Commercial Description:
The beer is a dry Imperial Stout - creamy and rich with color as black as night. It has aromas of roasted coffee and dark chocolate, hints of molasses, toffee and caramel in the taste. Clipper City will produce only a small batch, so availability is extremely limited. IBU'S: 30 Malts: Crisp English Pale, Crisp Crystal, Chocolate and Roasted Barley Hops: Styrian Goldings, Fuggles Magnum and Amarillo

mild coffee aroma with hints of chocolate. Pours dark brown, reddish on the sides, a little light to me, especially for an imperial. Smooth coffee and chocolate, with vanilla highlights. Very mild, and finish quickly. Very light and a little disappointing for an imperial stout.

12 oz bottle. Poured a deep brown with a thin tan head light roasted coffee aroma. Taste is sweet and it feels a bit thin in the mouth. It’s not really what I would consider an Imperial stout.

12oz. Bottle: Sweet aroma. Smelled of coffee, molasses, toffee, and caramel. Poured dark brown/black in color with a medium-sized dark brown head that lasted throughout. Small lacing. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of roasting, molasses, alcohol, and chocolate. Medium body. Thinish texture. Soft carbonation. Alcohol finish. Overall, alcohol is too dominant and beer is a bit thin.

Deep brown with a medium head. Coffee and earth aroma. Tasted some chocolate, coffee, molasses and a whole lotta earth. Just a little hop bitterness. Medium to heavy body. Not bad, but a bit underwhelming.

hearty hoppy aroma. dark coffee color. all the classic toffee and caramel flavors. i had this from a bottle picked up at potomac spirits. sweet lady sold it to me - but i think she has smoked a lot of cigarettes in her day.

Peg Leg poured beautifully, dark brown with ruby touches and a one finger, tan head. Not a lot was happening on the aroma end except for some subtle grassy notes. The flavor was pretty solid with coffee, toffee at the front and raisin at the back end. On the tongue this stout was silky and finished dry.

An alright stout. I enjoyed it. Not the best I’ve had...but not hte worst. I would say my least favorite of the mix pack.

Bottle from a sampler 6 pack, best by May 2007. Opaque chocolate, with a medium-sized brown sugar head that lasts. Aroma is chocolate and mild peppery hops with some molasses and a whiff of estery bubblegum and spices - nice. Flavor is malt and slight smoke on the front, hops not overpowering, but come on at the end. Nice malty-chocolate stout, with good balance from the hops. Palate is more medium than heavy, and drinkably smooth. I like it because the roasted barley notes (coffee and smoke) are more subtle than most other Imperials, and also that it is not mouth-puckeringly dry.
