Commercial Description:
The beer is a dry Imperial Stout - creamy and rich with color as black as night. It has aromas of roasted coffee and dark chocolate, hints of molasses, toffee and caramel in the taste. Clipper City will produce only a small batch, so availability is extremely limited. IBU'S: 30 Malts: Crisp English Pale, Crisp Crystal, Chocolate and Roasted Barley Hops: Styrian Goldings, Fuggles Magnum and Amarillo

Red shine and near-black beer under a grey-amber head. Hops and coffee. It’s nearly Danish (joke, joke); dry hopdust. Chocolate & coffee. Sweet and hopflavour, rather short-lived, except for the chocolate. Quite full-bodied, long lasting chocolate. It starts very promising; but from that it gest downhill. It’s too hyped on roast and hops. Try some brewing next.

Pours black with a pretty thin quickly evaporating head. Body appears to be relatively thin. Smells of roasted malts, hints of chocolate, and just a touch of some dark fruit. Body was really thin for an imperial stout, and I dont think this one should be labeled as such. taste was just mediocre, typical of a lighter stout. Alcohol seemed pretty weak for 8%. Almost tasted more like a quadrupel than a stout. It had some hints of chocolate and roastiness but they were subtle and I brought a little more of that sweet fruit out of it than anything. I wasnt expecting greatness, but still was quite disappointed with this beer.

Has a nice aroma,it wasnt as dark as i expected. had a nice malty start with a slight hop finish. For a beer at 8% it has drinkability.

Bottle. Dark tan average head that dissapated very quickly. Black opaque colored body. Aroma of chocolates and caramel. Flavors: some roasted malts. Initially sweet and finishes sweet. Watery texture. Light to medium body. Soft carbonation. Not very well balanced...a little to sweet. Almost a stale taste in the finish.

12 oz bottle marked best used by Mar 07. Tasted in mid Feb. Poured dark with medium head. Aroma has hints of roasted caramel but also burnt coffee. Flavors typical of the style are there: bitter chocolate, coffee, but not as big and full bodied as most good imperial stouts. I can’t put my finger on the aftertaste but its not one I particularly enjoy.

This beer was chosen by sneezer. It was an excellent imperial stout that I enjoyed in Charlottesville, VA. Thanks for the pick sneezer.

Pours dark with a medium brown head. The nose is burnt with a touch of sweetness. The nose is very similar to the good imperials. My first impression is this isn’t as sweet as many of the imperials, but it is pretty good. It was given to me by a friend and I don’t know the price. Burnt coffee with a little fading sweetness, definately not as big as others but respectable.
