pours dark brown/black with a disappearing brown head. strong mocha aroma. bittersweet chocolate coffee flavor with some tart black currants. nice balance. bitter dry tart coffee currant finish with light spicy piney hop notes. medium to full body. seems a bit thin. decent but a bit weak.

Pretty mild as far as imperial stouts go, but still good. a nice black body with a tan head. Mostly coccoa on the aroma and flavor was very sweet with it. It was very one dimentional but good for a dessert beer.

[195-20070123] Bottle. Medium alcohol and light chocolate aroma. Black brown body with a big foamy light brown head. Medium roast malt flavour, nicely blended. Medium body with a nice feel. I like how it carries itself (i.e. not heavily, but not limping either -- perhaps at a fair clip).

Enjoyed the beautiful appearance and coffe overtones but found it to be a bit overcarbonated. Decent brew though.

Not what expected out of an imerialstout. Still good. Light body on this one. No lingering taste.

This beer pours a dark chestnut brown with a rather thin light brown head. The beer doesn’t have an especially strong smell, but has hints of roasty caramel. It has a bit of a sweet coffee flavor, but is not as strong as most imperial stouts that I have tried. It also feels thinner in my mouth than many imperial stouts. Overall, it just doesn’t feel like it has as much body behind it as many beers in this category. If you’re looking for an imperial stout that wont overpower other flavors this might be a good choice.

Dark, rich color. Good stout flavor that’s abundant in chocolate and coffee tones. I was pleasantly surprised with this substantial brew.
