rating #200. Bottle, poured a deep brown with a tan head. Aromas of roasted malts and coffee. OK flavor, the fact that this beer is very thin. It really takes away from it because the flavors don’t last on your palate. As stated, very thin with an uneventful finish. I hope #300 will be a little more exciting.

12 oz bottle. Dark red body with a small tan head. Aroma is very hoppy and fruity (yeast). Flavor is sweet, malty, coffee, caramel and fruit with a surprisingly hoppy finish due to only 30 IBU.

Poured to a dark brown-black color with thick tan head that lingered long and left good lacing. Aroma was a pleasant mixture of malt choclate, nuts,. toffee and even a hint of licorice. Taste followed suit with sweet malty flavor. Alcohol, though 8%, was just present enough to nicely blend with the sweetness, which all served to round this medium bodied beer off to a smooth, warming finish. I enjoyed this much more than some other Impy Stouts I’ve had lately.

(draft @ The Old Toad - Rochester, NY) Dark black pour with a thin and creamy tan head. Aroma is kind of light with some good roasted coffee and some burnt chocolate malts. Flavor is very dark and roasty. Lots of coffee and roasted malts with a slight bitterness in the middle and a very strong and burnt malt finish. Medium bodied. Nice stout.

12 oz sample from drewbeerme during one of our many rating sessions. So they call this an imperial stout eh? Brown black color, tiny bubbled thin head that quickly whisps away, not very imperial yet. .... Does this have an aroma? ... sniff really hard, really stick your nose in there ... ahh some licorice and chocolate. hmm ... Well maybe they mean imperial in flavor. Chocolate, licorice .... is this sour .. why is this so off? Yeasty finish ... blah... can’t finish .. nothing imperial about this .. maybe the empire of crappy stouts.

12oz, thanks to JCB for this extra. pours dark brown with nice tan head. aroma is very weak, really mild chocolate, alcohol, and licorice. there is something going wrong in the flavor. very weak all around, hints of chocolate but hardly, no bitterness, no roastiness, mild licorice, and yeasty aftertaste. clipper city can do better than this.

Hard beer for me to rate because it is listed as an IS. In that category, this beer is only OK. If you name this any other stout it is very good. THe taste is very nice with some coffee, chocolate, malt, roast, and some very nice vanilla mixed in. The flavors all mix great...I mean really nice stuff. The beer is dark of course, but the body is extremley thin for an IS. I really do enjoy this beer though.

From a twelve ounce bottle purhased at "Keller’s IGA" in Cincinnati, Ohio -This one pours a black, aromatic stout with a rapidly vanishing brown head of foam and a srrong, complex scent of malt-chocolate-alcohol. Tastewise, I find it a little lacking in body for an imperial stout, but damn tasty for a dry stout (which is what it really is).
