Dec 19, 2009 22oz bottle. Poured a medium and clear orange color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, toastiness, grains, and some dirt/earthiness. Tastes of caramel, toasted malts, and some nuttiness. Light to medium alcohol in the finish.

Nov 22, 2009 Bomber. Amber body. Frothy, off-white head, mostly diminishing. Aroma of sweet malts, caramel, grass, herbs, toasted grain. Hint of spiciness. the flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium to full body, smooth texture, moderate carbonation. Floral taste at the end combined with alcohol warming. Expected this to be sweet because it is described by Clipper City as an imperial Oktoberfest. But the malts could be tamed a little better. Easy enough drinker, though.

Nov 19, 2009 THOUGHTS: I never really was much of a fan of Oktoberfests or marzens, but I had hopes for this one because it is considered a European Strong Lager. I did like the marzen aspects of this beer and didn’t think this was very much like a strong lager. It was very, very malty, but nicely balanced. I just love Vienna Malt. There was just enough hops to keep it from being cloying. Hid alcohol very well. This made me want to try more Oktoberfests. In a way it was like a premium European malt liquor. It did get a little cloying toward the end.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, light bronzy amber with a small, off-white head that mostly diminished and left just about no lacing. The aroma was moderate to heavy dark bread, molasses and caramel, lighter milk chocolate, prune, apple and a little fruitiness. The initial flavor was sweet, lightly acidic and slightly bitter; while the finish was rather sweet, slightly sour and bitter with and average to long duration. There was caramel malt, molasses, dark breads, rye, a little prune, a little apple, a little spice, hops and slight alcohol. The medium to medium to full body was a bit syrupy and juicy with fizzy carbonation and a juicy finish that was also lightly alcoholic when warmer.

Nov 14, 2009 Poured a slightly hazy dark amber with a tall creamy light tan head. The initial scent of the aroma was of a mild citrus hops followed by some sweet malt bread. The texture of the beer was lightly creamy and had a good amount of alcohol in the flavor as well as some malt bread flavor and a bit less of a caramel flavor. The warmth of the alcohol built towards the finish and there was a nice light bitterness that came along through the drinking too
