smcolw (177), Wayland, Massachusetts, USA Jun 25, 2009 Light haze to an otherwise yellow gold color. Good initial head that settles to a single layer. Light lace
Light sour aroma. Almost wheaty in the nose.
Relatively dry, warm alcohol. Similar to the smell in that there is a sour finish. Not as flavorful as most saisons. In fact, it’s pretty run-of-the-mill. FunkyBrewster (339), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 24, 2009 Thanks 17thfloor! Pours a nice clean golden color with a small white frothy head. Aroma is spicy and sweet with a nice earthiness. Fresh fruity character of melon, apple, clove. Flavor starts with a nice honeysuckle and sweet apple note. Picks up a spicy peppery bite and finishes smooth and clean, not a lot of bitterness, dry and malty. Medium body and a soft carbonation. Very flavorful and rich, but easy drinking. 17thfloor (1147), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 24, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a clear glowing lighter golden with a small fizzy white froth. Balanced aroma of vanilla, flowers, lightly sweet, hint of grass, touch spicy, hint of honey, yeasty, doughy, very balanced. Flavor follows, quite balanced and surprisingly tasty, slightly full for a saison, chalky, vanilla, doughy, yeasty, lightly spicy , off-dry sweetness finishing quite dry with just a touch of lingering candi sugar. Medium bodied with a almost hard candy feel, glassy, with lots of full airy carbonation. Love the hops right in the fnish, lovely beer. 502Flavors (508), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Jun 24, 2009 Bottle. Golden straw color with a bit of haze and a nice white head. Moderately spicy aroma with a good yeasty quality. Flavor is sweeter than most saisons but still has a nice spicyness to balance it all out. Not overcarboanted like most saisons. Medium to light body, smooth and refreshing. Overall: very refreshing summer brew. Foxbush (419), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jun 21, 2009 I have just learned the Belgian beer are not my style. The fruity flavor is just not my first choice in beers. The beer is too sweet and no hops. The spicy beer is not of my liking. WakeandBake (366), Greenville, Michigan, USA Jun 16, 2009 Bottle. A light clear orange yellow pour with a big fluffy white head, lively carbonation. Aroma is lightly sweet and spicy,a bit of the funk, hints of apple. Flavor is very good, nice malty sweetness, honey, apple, pepper, clove, nice yeastyness, medium body, sharp bubbly mouthfeel, long finish with a spicy aftertaste, very sessionable. AmEricanbrew (1493), Port-Au-Shreve, Louisiana, USA Jun 15, 2009 12 oz bottle. Clear light amber with a fleeting head. Spice and berryfruit aromas with strong clove. Smooth medium body. Big yeasty, sweet clove flavors with lightly tart pale wheat. Thanks to notalush for this bottle. wxman (554), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA May 29, 2009 Pours a pale golden with a minimal but lasting white head. Aroma is citrus, yeast and spice. Smooth clean and crisp for a saison. Has all the clove, banana and citrus notes that you’d expect, but not as sweet as some. A dryer, fresher example of the style, yet flavorful and well balanced.
