Commercial Description:
Pils, Carapils, and wheat malts, Belgian candi sugar

This beer is brewed in the Belgian Saison style (country farm house ale). A potent yet delicate ale, brewed with a unique Belgian yeast which develops a spicy, fruity flavor. Enormously complex. Available from May to around August.

A pretty good saison, but its a little watery, and leaves a slightly salty aftertaste. It could be a little fruitier. Otherwise, some nice spice, and a little tart. Easily drinkable. Alcohol % was a suprise when I read it.

12 oz. bottle bought in Fairfax, VA near DC. Good beer. Not sure why others feel it is not true to style. It seems pretty true to style to me. Bubblegum, banana and cloves. No hops. I like it. Maybe I am a homer, it is a Maryland beer after all ,and I might be influenced by that. I like it!

The little napping pirate with the empty bottle was made for a cool label. In the end, it turns out that I like the label better than the beer. Pours a clear pale straw colored yellow. The scent was extremely faint. I kept putting my nose closer and closer to it in an attempt to pick anything up, I ended up accidently snorting a bit of it up into my nose before I could smell anything. It burned a little. Smelled of boogers (that was my fault) and maybe some caramel and hops... Mostly boogers and alcohol, though. the taste wasn’t bad at all, citrus hops and malts. the mouth feel was a bit oily, heavy with caramel and left my mouth a little dry. It was drinkable. i wouldn’t seek this one out again, but it wasn’t bad. Serving type: bottle

Being from Belgium, I could not help but try to recognize this typical yeast smell. It sure felt like a taste from home, a beer I had tried before. The smell reminded me of the Barbar beer brewed nearby my own town. Red Sky offers a little fizzy/creamy aftertaste that’s actually very nice on the palate. Honey and a sugary taste are present in this beer. Pours a golden colorwith a thick creamy head. It is a very god addition to the Heavy Seas treasure chest. I was very impressed by it.

Pours light cloudy yellow with small white head; smeels sweet, flowery; tastes of Belgian ale accented by spiciness, cloves. nice.

On Tap. Typical belgian strong, flavorful, and sweet sugar tastes without any particular prominent flavors. Well executed and enjoyable.

A below average saison. I am a little suspicious in any saison that comes in a 12oz bottle, but maybe that’s just the beer snob in me. Aroma was decent but in a blind sniffing, I would think this was a hefeweizen. Strong banana and clove aroma. Pour was a flat bubbleless light gold with a thin white film for a head. Taste was like a hefeweizen with sugar and honey added. Medium carbonation with a sugary sweet aftertaste. Calling this a saison is a stretch to say the least.

Draft at Pizzeria Paradiso in Georgetown. Poured a clear golden color. Head was white with good retention and lacing. Aroma was of banana and clove. Slightly sweet and light bodied. The flavor was similar to the aroma with the addition of honey. Not exactly Saison-ish in my mind, but decent.
