| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 1/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Aug 4, 2007 Smells of vinegar and fruit, maybe strawberries. Gold color, no head, and many floating sediments. Tastes of sour grains, perhaps wheat, and cloves. Alcohol is concealed, but still noticeable. Grainy finish. Good beer. malrubius (977), Valley Stream, New York, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Jul 30, 2007 12 ounce bottle in tulip glass. Pours bright clear orange with a quicly fading small white head and some lace. Very faint aroma of orange fruity sweetness. Flavors are extremely “subtle.” Faint honey orange sweetness, candy suger, nondescript spiciness, mock dry finish. Medium body. I’m a big fan of saisons, but not this one. Too sweet, not spicy or hoppy enough. Sorry. For an excellent Clipper City Heavy Seas brew try the Loose Cannon. yesyouam (589), Fairport, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 28, 2007 Red Sky at Night is the color of an overripe pear with a soft white head that mostly diminishes, leaving a woodgrain pattern. There are many white particles all through the glass. The lacing is OK. The aroma is fruity and spicy: banana, clove, gewurztraminer, possibly numeg, dough, and cider. It is medium bodied and crisp. The carbonation is sparse and sharp. It leaves the mouth a touch slick. It’s a well-blended flavor, lightly bitter, tart and acidic. It _does_ remind me of a gewurtztraminer, in fact. All of the aromas are incorporated in the flavor. The end of the taste is of starchy apple and a spot of butter-- almost salty. It’s quite tasty. I wish I had a 750 mL bottle of this. gunhaver (1025), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 27, 2007 Updated: Jun 5, 2008Looks beautiful; like a great champagne. Smell is strong, as is the taste, but is still pretty drinkable overall. But the drinkability has mostly to do with the fact that the flavor doesn’t hit you overall as well as the pure alcohol content of it. A bit difficult to get my point across, but basically, I can sum it up by saying it’s a good saison considering it’s in a 12 oz bottle and cheap to boot. emobassfoo (178), Webster, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 26, 2007 Rated while drinking: Pale yellow color with a majestic fluffy white head. Very fruity and spicy! Kinda reminds me of a tripel. Lots of fruit in the mouth. Not too overpowering at all though (which is a good thing for this style). Taste quite a bit of yeast in there too. Really easy to drink despite a tad bit of chalkiness, but no overwhelming alcohol or burning sensations. Well done, all in all. Though it’s not my style, I’m enjoying this beer quite a bit! b33r (363), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 23, 2007 Light transparent yellow with small head and no lacing. Aroma and flavor are rich with spices and fruits. It was very sweet with pumpkin or banana notes. Really great all around. A beer doesn’t need to be darker than dirt or have "imperial stout" in the name to be good.. DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 21, 2007 Pours a nice amber color with a small white head.Aroma has some spice on the nose. This is a poor repersentation of this style. Most saisons to me ar refreshing, not this one.Flavors of wet cardboard with a sticky mouthfeel.Totally dissapointed. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 15, 2007 Purchased at Corral Liquors in Granite City, IL. Pours a hazy gold with lots of rising bubbles and a large, rocky, ivory head. On the nose is a fruity, spicy blend of pears, light citrus, spices of paradise? and faint notes of bubble gum and alcohol. Medium-bodied, oily and soft with a slightly sour finish. Sweet pear-like malty front with a lot of yeasty input: faint banana backing up a peppery, sour wheat-like note. Finishes quite cleanly and not overly dry with light alcohol on the exhale. This is a tasty beer, but it seems to be missing that special "something" that would take it to the next level.
