Eckato (89), St. Petersburg, Florida, USA Jul 3, 2007 Poured out of a bottle with a nice head... Nice golden yellow amber coloring...the carbonation is decent. The aroma is a nice sweet and sour... imagine this...the taste is sour and sweet also...I like the mouth feel, it clings a bit..and the flavor that lingers is nice. Good beer this.... emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Jul 1, 2007 Poured a hazy yellow amber with a white medium creamy head. The aroma is slightly fruity, spicy, a mild sourness, and a tad yeasty. The flavor is sour, spicy, some citrusy, basementy, and earthy. The palate was eh. Follows the Clipper City paradigm, not very good but not a disaster either. shadey (1496), Rochester, New York, USA Jun 30, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pour is a light golden color with a small head of medium sized bubbles. The aroma is sweet and only slightly hoppy. The flavor is far too sweet to be a good saison. There are some dry dusty hops, but overall a sweetness from candi sugar that is undesirable in a saison. ucusty (1865), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Jun 27, 2007 Updated: Jun 28, 2007Decent US version of a belgian classic. Aroma is hay and yeast. Flavor is a nice fruity sasion. weird metallic after- taste was it worth 2 bucks now thats the real question? no real floaters like im used to seeing in a belgian farmhouse or even the bison blankboy (3156), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 21, 2007 My bottle (12oz), shared with tupalev. Pours a clear yellow-gold with a small diminishing white head. Aroma of wheat, spices and lemon, a little sweet and yeasty -- I’m having a hard time describing this. Flavour’s a little watery, tastes citrusy and yeasty along with wheat, malt and a hint of hops. Average bodied. Not my favourite style and this is a mediocre version of it. JCB (1713), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jun 15, 2007 Bought a sixer of this about 6 weeks ago, and it’s already started to go downhill. Cloudy golden brew with a medium body, the yeast and funk and moderate spice come across initially but there’s not enough depth to this. A bit of candy, some mild fruits and grassy goodness, but it’s ephemeral and gets lost somewhat quickly. Enjoyable but middling. Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Jun 13, 2007 Pours a clear gold color with bright white head. Early on I smell just sweet sugary malts and a hint of wheat. As the beer warmed the aroma picked up subtle fruity notes. The taste starts off with wheat and sugary sugarness and really not all that farmhouse like. When the beer warmed well above frig temps I started to notice some fruits like banana mixed with sweet apple. Finally when the beer was at room temperature some nice yeasty notes surfaced that merely hinted to the style. Too little too late though. Ambrose (141), East Aurora, New York, USA Jun 12, 2007 a true sailors delight. when there is no rum around. yeast is the key word in this brew. But it’s tolerable. a little fruity and not as delicate as they say. I’ve had kidney stones that are more delicate. But I’m not complaining. about the beer that is. 8 percent baby ! ! !
