Aug 6, 2006 3 oz sampler at RFD in DC: Looks like a standard macro. A slightly metallic taste with some signifigant floral flavors as well. Some hops throughout but sweet sugary malts mixed in nicely. I’m begining to like the Saison style more and more.

Aug 4, 2006 This one has a floral malty alcoholic scent with a flavor that swirls between sweetness and sournews with an almost grapefruit-like character. For a saison it doesn’t seem carbonated enough and seems a bit on the wet side. But it has an excellent spice content and I find this one a nice summertime brew. It goes down easy with a slight alcoholic tinge.

Aug 2, 2006 12 oz bottle, very nice orange color. The head fades fast. Aroma has some dirty quality to it, some banana, citrus characteristics. Flavor has a decent spice taste, almost nutmeg. Mouthfeel leaves something to be desired. Have had better Saisons. Overall its a decent beer. Would try it again. 8% alcohol is hidden fairly well also.

Jul 25, 2006 (Bottle) Pours a lightly hazy orange body with a small quickly dissipating white head. Aroma of banana, apple, caramel, and lemon. Flavor of hops, spicy yeast, and some notes of fruitiness.

Jul 23, 2006 Pours a lightly hazy golden yellow with very small floaties and an average bubbly head. Aroma was very fruity, green apple, peach, some citrus but predominetly apple. Flavor was slighty tart apple, some yeast and lighter spcies. Sweet on the palate.

Jul 22, 2006 Draft at the James Joyce pub, labeled James Joyce Ale something-or-other. Clear orange color, light appearance. Tastes a little like cheap lager, like a Miller Lite almost. Crisp, fizzy, sweet malts, citrus and cherries, pale and simple, though. A bit sour in the finish. Like an American pale ale.

Jul 18, 2006 On tap, 2006 RBSG RFD tasting. Pours a clear yellow gold with a thin covering of white head. Aroma is a mix of crackery malt, light fruitiness, and a little yeast. Flavor is lightly bitter with some light yeast, and a general fruitiness. Mouthfeel is light bodied with soft but active carbonation. Creamy in texture. Overall, pretty pedestrian, but drinkable. I had a hard time trying to identify what style this was without knowing beforehand

Jul 17, 2006 Unripe banana funk in the aroma. Clear pale gold. Mellow mouthfeel. This is almost wheaty.
