Pours a pale yellow from the bottle with a bubbly white head that soon fades away. Not very strong aromas, but small amounts of melon, maybe honeydew and a little front lawn. Taste is sweet, and a little strong. Some cherry and wheat. Similar to a Killian’s or heavy, fruity heffeweizen. A little too heavy and strong, but befitting of the name. Although I have a feeling that tomorrow won’t be a sailor’s delight.

Pours gold with a large head. Lots of effervescence and some lacing. Very yeasty aroma (earthy and barnyardy). Also some bready malts and the slightest hint of alcohol. Flavor starts off excellent—very malty, a little funky, nice and thick in the mouth—but ends with some violent carbonation that kills the other flavors and accentuates the would-be pleasant hop bitterness. Good stuff overall, but still doesn’t make up for their Pegleg Imperial Stout, which looked and tasted like a brown ale.

Pale golden body with a huge, clumpy white head. Aroma is sweet and bright, with notes of tropical fruits like mango and pineapple. Flavor has much of the same fruitiness and very little bitterness. The maltiness is heavy and sticky, almost too much so. Finish is spicy and tart. I enjoyed it aside from the too heavy palate.

Hazy and golden in the glass. A lingering thin white head has a small bead with some lacing. Aromas are hard to pin down, but I get citrus, some dough and a hint of caramel. Taste and palate are reminiscent of orange soda, with a little bitterness on the finish. Spices are there evident, too. Anise and cinnamon. Not unpleasant, but very bright and fizzy on the tongue.

Poured fairly dark dirty brass, mostly clear, with a two-fingered white rocky head which slowly faded, leaving some pretty nice lace. Aromas were fruit esters, grass, grain, hops and notes of yeast and alcohol. Flavor was sweet malt, caramelly but not too smoky -- due no doubt to the 2 pils malts and the wheat. There were sweet notes of fresh fruit, diacetyl, and the sugariness of the candi sugar. Equally evident, though, were alcohol, citrus astringency, and a great hop finish. The balance of Magnum and Styrian Golding hops was quite flavorful without being overly bitter. Mouth feel was full and left a nice aftertaste. This is a complex, flavorful, refreshing ale that should please most ale lovers. Something for everyone and nothing bad about it.

A highly credible American saison--with true Belgian strength to boot... Very clean and crisp with just a hint of yeastiness.

Bottle: Aroma is sweet and fruity with apple and banana. Also has a touch of yeatiness and some spice. Pours a orangish-gold with a touch of haze and an insignificant white head that is barely a ring. Fruit is much lighter in the flavor than aroma would lead you to believe. Instead it is much more spicey. Flavor is light banana and lighter apple up front with a big spicey finish, almost like a Christmas beer. Some acidity in the finish. Slight hints of yeast are barely noticeable. Mouthfeel is slightly on the fizzy side. As it warms the sweetness increases and balances much better with all the spice.
