Foxbush (452), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jun 21, 2009 I have just learned the Belgian beer are not my style. The fruity flavor is just not my first choice in beers. The beer is too sweet and no hops. The spicy beer is not of my liking. WakeandBake (422), Greenville, Michigan, USA Jun 16, 2009 Bottle. A light clear orange yellow pour with a big fluffy white head, lively carbonation. Aroma is lightly sweet and spicy,a bit of the funk, hints of apple. Flavor is very good, nice malty sweetness, honey, apple, pepper, clove, nice yeastyness, medium body, sharp bubbly mouthfeel, long finish with a spicy aftertaste, very sessionable. AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA Jun 15, 2009 12 oz bottle. Clear light amber with a fleeting head. Spice and berryfruit aromas with strong clove. Smooth medium body. Big yeasty, sweet clove flavors with lightly tart pale wheat. Thanks to notalush for this bottle. wxman (582), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA May 29, 2009 Pours a pale golden with a minimal but lasting white head. Aroma is citrus, yeast and spice. Smooth clean and crisp for a saison. Has all the clove, banana and citrus notes that you’d expect, but not as sweet as some. A dryer, fresher example of the style, yet flavorful and well balanced. blklab2007 (932), Connecticut, USA May 28, 2009 bottle poured a yellow golden in color with a thick foamy white head that retained well. aroma has sweet grains, wheat, spiced yeast, apples, and some dark fruit. takes a run at the sweet Belgian yeast thing, but not quite there. mouth feel is light and there is ample carbonation. sweetness picks up big time in the flavor, spiced yeast, wheat, spent grain, and again the apples. this one is really sweet and lacks any dryness to control it. BREWMUSKCLES (1062), New Jersey, USA May 26, 2009 bit of Belgian spice on the nose and also vegetable wheat. taste is nice enough with typical spice and a good yeasty body that fortifies the sweet and somewhat one dimensional taste that comes off a bit watery. sneaky alcohol that i like it is a bit bright, a bit refined and has a mellow actually meekish finish. kassner (429), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA May 25, 2009 Bottle. This beer is rather sweet for the style, not as spicy as some, a nice beer that does not give full hint of its alcohol content. Slightly off colored gold, Not much head or lacing thornecb (1735), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA May 19, 2009 Pours clear gold into a tulip. Bright white head quickly recedes leaving no lacing to hug rim. Sour yeast and funk aromas. Dry and sharp with sour/sweet clove and yeast. Lasting honeyed pepper finish.
