Sour yeast and funk aromas. Dry and sharp with sour/sweet clove and yeast. Lasting honeyed pepper finish. WeeHeavySD (2961), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 15, 2009 12oz. Pours orange with a thin tan head. Nose is sweet and peppery. Taste is sweet, peppery and all in all not a terrible saison styled brew. Not really feeling it right now, but its not horrid. Elwood (677), Leesburg, Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 9, 2009 Draft from a cask. Pours a hazy yellow brown with a small, foamy, white head. Spruce, must, and spice in the nose. Spruce again on the palate with yeast, must, soap, a bit of citrus (grapefruit?), and citrus fruit sweetness. Low carbonation with a medium-light mouthfeel. Medium short finish with a little pithy taste lingering on the tongue. An enjoyable brew worth trying. JasonG (700), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | May 3, 2009 12 oz bottle - pours a faintly cloudy straw yellow color with smallish white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma has notes of wildflower honey, pears, coriander, wheat, black pepper. Flavor is spicey, with grains of paradise, coriander, hint of clove, honey, light oak. Finish is fairly sweet. Palate is a bit full for the style. Overall it’s alright, although too sweet and underattenuated for the style, IMO. notalush (2645), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 3, 2009 I normally shy away from Clipper City brews, but I can’t pass up a new saison, no matter who makes it - this has quite a bit of wheat malt for the style, but it’s fairly good - semi-sweet honey, tangerine, other tangy citrus character, spicy and fruity belgian yeast character - a bit of phenolic quality through the middle - sweetness makes way for potent spiciness, peppery character, a dash of hops - the finish is a bit much, making it less refreshing than a saison ought to be, but this is decent. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Apr 29, 2009 Bottle. Slight hazy yellow pour, plenty of carbonation and sweet sugar, yeast aroma. Flavor is bunch of malt/honey/yeast and very heavy on the aftertaste. An OK beer. jimmack34 (560), Lancaster, Ohio, USA

Tasted malty sweet, with some spice, grass, and citric hops. Some candy or sugar in there as well. Pretty good stuff. agillespie81 (195), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 1/5 | 8/10 | 1/5 | 12/20 | Feb 17, 2009 Deep golden color...cloudy. Thin head. Slightly spicy aroma. Subtle fruit flavor up front...notes of apple and white grapes. Crisp mouthfeel. Back is somewhat spicy, with just a hint of citrus tartness...finish is short and sweet. Though this beer is very complex in flavor, it seems to be lacking some attention to detail.
