| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 22, 2006 Pours a clear golden body with little carbonation and a slender white head. The aroma is a soft malt with some banana and a very light spicing. Pretty much the same with the flavor. I wouldn’t have guessed this was a Saison - perhaps an American golden. Disappointing.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 29, 2004 Golden color with a tall off white head. MIld and light aromas. HInts of fresh yeast, pale malt, faint allspice and touch of citrus. Nose is less clean as it warms. Light sweet malt start taken back by dry candi flavors and touch of spice. Dry uneventful finish. An interesting ale, but a bit simple. A bit more malt profile would do wonders. Thankd Jeffc666. BückDich (4851), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 4, 2004 Filtered gold with light head and lacing, low carbonation for the style. The aroma is medicinal with hops but floral with yeast. Well rounded body and very yeasty citrus flavors. Ends a bit disapointing and clean. Not too bad. I could go for another of these. chriso (4796), London, Greater London, England
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jun 9, 2005 This is an odd one. The name’s a bit of a mouthful and, to be honest, so is the beer. Lets get one thing straight from the start. Its not like any Belgian saison I’ve ever tried. For one thing, its rather sweet. For another, its very strong. By no stretch of the imagination is this a "summer refresher" as claimed. The colour is coppery orange. It reminded me of Lucozade. Despite indications on the bottle to the contrary there was no yeast sediment whatsoever. There’s something spicy in the aroma, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Plus a slight earthiness. So far so good. But, in the mouth its a bit of a mess. Its brewed with candi sugar and it shows. All I really get is a warming alcohol burn and a sticky sweetness, producing a curiously empty feeling (apart from the alcohol afterburn). There’s little body and not much acidity to parovide any balance. To be fair, it was a couple of months past its best before date, so I’m making some allowances. Thanks to Mike (The_Beer_God) for the gift.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 24, 2008 A hazy golden ale with a thin white head. A pleasant cloves and bananas in aroma, with light vanilla notes. In mouth, a restrained spicy malt, with light herbal notes, good alcohol in final. Medium bodied. Middle of the road Saison. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 26, 2005 Head is initially small, fizzy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain/bread), lightly hoppy (flowers), trace yeast (cobwebs). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Hard to believe this is 8-9% ABV, as there’s hardly a trace of alcohol in nose or finish.
