Commercial Description:
Pils, Carapils, and wheat malts, Belgian candi sugar
Magnum and Styrian Goldings Hops
This beer is brewed in the Belgian Saison style (country farm house ale). A potent yet delicate ale, brewed with a unique Belgian yeast which develops a spicy, fruity flavor. Enormously complex. Available from May to around August.

12oz - Aroma is yeasty orange with a touch of spice. Pours cloudy gold with a small head and great lacing. Flavor is nice and bready with orange peel and spice. Palate is creamy and tart. Pretty good stuff that hides the alcohol well.

Pours gold with a large head. Lots of effervescence and some lacing. Very yeasty aroma (earthy and barnyardy). Also some bready malts and the slightest hint of alcohol. Flavor starts off excellent—very malty, a little funky, nice and thick in the mouth—but ends with some violent carbonation that kills the other flavors and accentuates the would-be pleasant hop bitterness. Good stuff overall, but still doesn’t make up for their Pegleg Imperial Stout, which looked and tasted like a brown ale.

Thanks to Gregis for the beer. 12oz bottle, purchase by 10/07. 7.5%ABV, not the 8% the website lists. Served in my NB snifter @ 53°. Aroma is lemon, citrus, sharp wheat, yeast, and some belgian funk. Hazy gold color with a smallish head, but perpetual carbonation. No yeast evident in the beer or bottle, despite what the bottle says. Taste is fruity (pears/apples) with honey notes, yeast, vanilla, spice, and flour. Fruitiness gives the beer a sense of sweetness, without the beer being sweet. The finish is fruit and alcohol. This is a very subtle beer, and real nice depth of flavor. A little more carbonation would be welcome, but was not expected due to the 12oz bottle, they can only handle so much carbonation. A nice beer.

Total Wine. Mild aroma of Belgian yeast, hops and fruit. Flavor is pretty good for an American attempt at a saison. Not up to the level of a Du Pont, but tasty, enjoyable, and extremely drinkable. Notes of Belgian yeast, candy sugar, spicy hops, and a great alcohol hit buried inside. Really nice on a hot Florida day. Excellent.

12 oz. bottle bought in Fairfax, VA near DC. Good beer. Not sure why others feel it is not true to style. It seems pretty true to style to me. Bubblegum, banana and cloves. No hops. I like it. Maybe I am a homer, it is a Maryland beer after all ,and I might be influenced by that. I like it!

Pours a lightly hazy golden yellow with very small floaties and an average bubbly head. Aroma was very fruity, green apple, peach, some citrus but predominetly apple. Flavor was slighty tart apple, some yeast and lighter spcies. Sweet on the palate.

12 oz bottle: Aroma is nicely floral, yeast, nice spicey hops, fresh apples, orange, and almost a graham cracker scent to it. Appearance is a slightly cloudy orangish/golden color with a medium sized white head that diminishes into a soapy white film. Taste is nicely light fruity, yeast, orange, sugary, and a light hop bittereness on the back end. Palate has a lightly carbonated mouth feel with a lingering yeast and floral notes in the aftertaste. Overall, nice drinker. I personally really like this saison. Cheers!

This one has a floral malty alcoholic scent with a flavor that swirls between sweetness and sournews with an almost grapefruit-like character. For a saison it doesn’t seem carbonated enough and seems a bit on the wet side. But it has an excellent spice content and I find this one a nice summertime brew. It goes down easy with a slight alcoholic tinge.
