A slightly metallic taste with some signifigant floral flavors as well. Some hops throughout but sweet sugary malts mixed in nicely. I’m begining to like the Saison style more and more. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 14, 2007 Clear golden, ring of bubbles. Candi sugar and spice up front, very tripel-like. Faint floral and pale malt background. Flavor is veru tripel-like as well, dominated by candi sugar. Really have to dig to get anything else. Pretty muddled up in general. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 5, 2006 Pours an ultra refined pale gold...looks like a macro almost...dense one finger white head. Aroma is big candi sugar and a bit of yeast...roasted peppercorns. Flavor is also tons of candi sugar...very sweet...quite a bit of spice and grass taste...some malt too. Hardly any hops..and I don’t get any fruitiness from this? Mouthfeel is dense...kind of harsh actually. This is not a very good example of a saison...at least from what I have experienced. Still a pretty tasty brew. SSSteve (2086), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 5, 2007 gold pour with a large foamy white head. aroma has notes of belgian yeast and sugar. flavor is belgianish but not really like a saison. the belgian yeast and candy sugar are apparent. this is much better than their attempt at a dubbel. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | May 14, 2007 Pours a shockingly clear yellowy color with very little head. This sucker looks a lot like a pale lager but fortunately smells like a saison. Some funky yeasty notes in the aroma with a bit of allspice. Flavor is surprisingly fruity, like banana fruity. Almost heffeweizen fruity with a spicy finish and a fairly smooth and unsaisony mouthfeel. I can drink stuff like this all day, even if it is mediocre. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 21, 2007 Pours a bubbly orange with a very thin white head. Not a very big nose on this one. A little citrus and spices, light orange. Taste is pretty decent. Cinnamon spice is the most dominant in this flavor in this one. Relatively smooth. Not extremely complex. Pretty refreshing. I definitely prefer the Belgian saisons much more, but this one wasnt too shabby. Goodgrief (1153), Middletown, Delaware, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 11, 2007 Updated 5/20/2006. Had this a couple of times now. It’s not terrible, but just overly sweet. Beer pours pale yellow color with a nose that is wheaty. Flavor has some barnyard funk underneath the wheat and spice, but is just overly sweet. Drinkable, but not worth seeking out. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 25, 2006 pours a golden straw body with amber tins and a medium sized white head. little to no lacing. smells of yeast, alcohol and strongly of fruit. tastes of malts and citrus. lemon, grapes. sort of sweet. not bitter at all. grainy, doughy. malty. finishes with strong yeasty bouts. (is bout a word?) like chunks of yeast flavor but not biting or anything like that. again and interesting little combination from the clipper city folks. is it my favorite beer? no. comes close? no but definetely worth the few bucks at Chevy Chase Liquor.
