HInts of fresh yeast, pale malt, faint allspice and touch of citrus. Nose is less clean as it warms. Light sweet malt start taken back by dry candi flavors and touch of spice. Dry uneventful finish. An interesting ale, but a bit simple. A bit more malt profile would do wonders. Thankd Jeffc666. vyvvy (2068), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 29, 2006 Pours nice golden color with red hue. Not much head and it quickly leaves. Very little carbonation. Smell is spicy, some sweetness, but overall dry. Very transparent, no bottle conditioning with this saison. Palate is very thin compared to most saisons, pleasant though. Taste has some spice - coriander? cinnamon? Not much of the taste that comes with most Belgiums (or most US interprentations) - not very earthy in the malts or yeast. It is enjoyable for what it is, but not very true to the style. This is definitely recommend, just go into it with an open mind. Dickinsonbeer (3497), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 10, 2009 Tap at BCTC 2009. Obviously drank for the Saison tick- no denying it. Pours a hazy dull deep gold- light copper with a fluffy sticky off white head- and some lace. Aroma is actually fairly sweet from the start, a bit harsh hay and straw- with sharp toffee and light butterscotch caramel hints, hay phenolic, earth, and a bit harsh. Flavoor is a bit sweet as well- almsot syrupy at times, harsh green phenols, big bready yeast- too much so, and not saison-like enough- just belgiany with too much goiung on, and not dry at all- just harsh and a bit astringent with too much residual sweetness. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 15, 2004 Small white head, short lived. Lightly hazy golden color. Yeasty nose, lots of bananna. Light body, somewhat pastey. Fruity, bananna flavors dominate, yeasty. Finish is sweet. Alc. is well hidden. This is a Saison?

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 21, 2006 Bottle. Gold with floaties and a greenish tinge. Fluffy cloudlike head recedes, drawing a snowcapped mountain range in the glass. Alluring bouquet of lemon, bubblegum wrapper, dried apricot, ginger, golden raisins. Hints of spicy farmhouse funk. Flavor is comparitively bland... soft lychee, galangal, and appleskin. Almost buttery palate, yet finishes dry, tannic, tart, minerally. Pinpricks of carbonation and alcohol on the tongue. Slight lettuce aftertaste. steview (902), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 4, 2005 Updated: Mar 5, 2005Arrghhhh for my 420th rating! Argghhh... Arggh, arrghhh... Anyway, this isn’t a hemp ale, but it involved redness. Silly, not of the eyes, but in the sky! Oohhh, trippy! This beer ain’t trippy. It’s sugary, filled with a banana-like fruit, honey, and heavy with sweet things; spicy, but not sure how or exactly why it’s spiced in such a way; drinkable, prickly, and otherwise mediocre, but all in all not quaffable at all. This is a really strong brew, but I prefer their other strong brew, their IIPA. bu11zeye (5621), Frisco, Texas, USA

Aroma of banana, apple, caramel, and lemon. Flavor of hops, spicy yeast, and some notes of fruitiness. igneous1 (1374), Davenport, Iowa, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 18, 2004 clear medium golden, no head from my bottle. aroma is a little clove, a lot of candied sugar, spot of bubblegum. intially a little sour, some alcohol, more sugar, moderate spicing (little pepper in the finish). not that typical of a classic saison, in my opinion, e.g. pipaix, but still pretty good.
