This beer is brewed in the Belgian Saison style (country farm house ale). A potent yet delicate ale, brewed with a unique Belgian yeast which develops a spicy, fruity flavor. Enormously complex. Available from May to around August.

bottle poured a yellow golden in color with a thick foamy white head that retained well. aroma has sweet grains, wheat, spiced yeast, apples, and some dark fruit. takes a run at the sweet Belgian yeast thing, but not quite there. mouth feel is light and there is ample carbonation. sweetness picks up big time in the flavor, spiced yeast, wheat, spent grain, and again the apples. this one is really sweet and lacks any dryness to control it.

Draft at GOBF ’08. Pours a clear medium-light golden color with a foamy, off-white head. Aromas included cereal grains, pale, sweet malts, light fruits, sweet, bready yeast, and some cinnamon. Flavors showed an increase in sweetness, as candy sugar joined the sweet, fruity malts and yeast. Cinnamon and clove are there, but just don’t seem to work that well here. It feels like some sort of Saison/ Hefeweizen hybrid. Medium bodied, the brew is slightly syrupy and cloying. This one did not impress.

Mild for a saison, sweet fruityness. Not as carbinated as i would have liked. Could have been a little more fruity.

Looks beautiful; like a great champagne. Smell is strong, as is the taste, but is still pretty drinkable overall. But the drinkability has mostly to do with the fact that the flavor doesn’t hit you overall as well as the pure alcohol content of it. A bit difficult to get my point across, but basically, I can sum it up by saying it’s a good saison considering it’s in a 12 oz bottle and cheap to boot.

Bottle from Whole Foods Charlottesville. Pours a golden straw color with a medium head. Good lacing and retention. Big malt aroma with Belgian yeast, red apple and spice. Taste has very little sourness or bitterness, and is almost cloyingly sweet.

12oz. Poured light orange with no head until I poured right down the middle to get a small white head that quickly settled. Nose is subdued, some candied cherry and banana but not much else. Body is similar, with the slightest notion of spice but nothing too unruly, hides the alcohol well. Moderate carbonation and the finish is palate coating cherry cough syrup. A good try at a style that I’m guessing is not easy to brew.

Draft: Poured a golden yellow with an aroma of grass, sweet malts, and yeast. The flavor was grass, vanilla, sweet sugars, and a hint of citrus. Overall, decent saison.
