Commercial Description:
Pils, Carapils, and wheat malts, Belgian candi sugar
Magnum and Styrian Goldings Hops
This beer is brewed in the Belgian Saison style (country farm house ale). A potent yet delicate ale, brewed with a unique Belgian yeast which develops a spicy, fruity flavor. Enormously complex. Available from May to around August.

Nice spice, possibly allspice? Sweet but not heavy or alcoholic. This would make a great summer beer as long as it’s not too hot. Refreshing.

Faintly cloudy orange, with a nice constant carbonation. Mellow perfuey, citrusy aroma. Flavor is tart and winey. Not sure how typical of the style is, but it is tasty and refreshing.

On tap at RFD during RBSG 2006. Huge banana ester aroma. Some lemon flavor too. Light gold in color with a bit of pepper taste. Boiled parsnip aroma. A tad sweet perhaps. Silky in body with a orange/coriander finish.

Old Dominion Brew Fest 2005. Nice Saison, not exactly my preferred style but a decent example.

Bottle from SpringsLicker. Pours a lightly opaque light amber color with a very dense white head that rises about 1.5 inches above the liquid level upon pouring. Foamy lacing left behind. Aroma is funky, like ketchup/katsup.. Light bodied, full of bubbly carbonation. Very delicate flavors, light in mouthfeel. Enough alcohol and residual sugar to believe that Candi sugar was used. No alcohol harshness. Full of carbonation, light, bubbly and fairly spicey. Pretty well done, a bit above ABV if you think the workers are going to get back to the fields any time soon. Enjoyable, if not exactly to style.

12 oz bottle from Humolone Red. Straw/gold color, clear, medium head with not much lacing. There is a large fruit aroma with apparent alcohol and a good yeasty smell. The flavor is sweet, floral, mild spicing (maybe just properties of the yeast?). It doesn’t taste like 9%. Good beer.

Just the right amount of spice and sweetness for a late nightcap after hard physical work. Good aroma and lasting head, light colour. A fine saison.I hadn’t realized this was out for about 3 years, and picked it up this year.

12oz - Aroma is yeasty orange with a touch of spice. Pours cloudy gold with a small head and great lacing. Flavor is nice and bready with orange peel and spice. Palate is creamy and tart. Pretty good stuff that hides the alcohol well.
