I opted against getting a full six-pack, since I’ve tried a few of this brewery’s offerings and was not overly impressed. Pours a golden body with a quarter inch of white head with staying power. Subtle aromas of grain and hops. More grains, mild hops, and mild caramel malts. Crisp green apples in the finish. Thin/medium carbonation and body. Tasty; alcohol content is hidden well. I’m not a big fan of this beer-style, but I enjoyed this. More complex and flavorful than expected. NicerInPerson (337), North of Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 24, 2007 The aroma was spicy and citrusy with a nice caramel malt backbone and a prickly nose from a nice level of carbonation. The aroma was lightly earthy but was mostly spicy with a bit of a pepper presence. The beer poured into the glass slightly hazy golden amber with a low white head which fell quickly but did lace the glass. The flavor was nicely malty with a spicy hop flavor and a nice citrus characteristic which was light. The flavor was lightly earthy and had a similar level of pepper in the flavor as was present in the aroma. The caramel malt backbone kept the bittering in check, but still allowed for a nice dry finish with lasting hop characteristics into the aftertaste. The body was medium-full and the carbonation moderate to leave a creamy impression on the palate. A bit of alcohol warming was notable post consumption. A really nice beer! 12 ounce bottle. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 21, 2007 Deep blond color. Very nice hoppy aroma, having both the crispy malt, perfumy hops and fruitness. Good mouthfeel, some sweetness, cood malt and caramel flavor, with a touch of fudge; good hopping, a bit fruity too. I would compare it to Jämtlands Hell: sweeter, fruiter and less bitter. Very good. Dorwart (1831), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 19, 2007 Thin head which dissipates quickly. Light carbonation. Sweet malts in the aroma along with some vegetal notes, and a bit of dustyness. Color is a clear golden orange. Sweet flavor with a little bit of fruit and some herbal notes and dry hops. Noticable alcohol presence. Bit of a kick. Finishes smooth and warming with a bit of lingering sweet malts and some bitter hops. A decent brew. MagooinPA (99), Warminster, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 17, 2007 12oz pour to a nice fluffy white head, good lacing. Pours the color of a Bud and I’m thinking this is gonna suck. Smells like a pils, looks like a pils, but tastes great. (No Bud pun intended.) I do not like pilsners but this is pretty damn good. It has body and flavor that an ale guy like myself can appreciate. The ABV is not apparent at all. It has great body and depth throughout. Got this in the Clipper variety pack. Can’t wait to try the others. This is an awesome brewery. TheBeerOrg (1589), Kentucky, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 17, 2007 Pours dark golden with a mostly receding off-white head. Aroma of sweet alcoholic malt, intense hoppiness, and candied hops. Taste is sweet, hoppy, with resinous hops, and toffee. Pretty rough around the edges, like most Heavy Seas beers. mhelgason (495), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 16, 2007 bottle. small quickly disappating head into hazy orange semi-sparkling body. aromas of floral and light citrus hops, light malts. good carbonation, moderate body density. only complaint is it seems that someone tried a little too hard to make this beer a heavy one and let the beer suffer. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Nov 12, 2007 Blah...Usual ESL so I was expecting this. Aroma of hops and not much else and not very strong. Pour was a thick light gold with no movement and no head. Taste was thick and somewhat bland. Some pale malts in the front but a mix of alcohol burn and hops in the aftertaste. Barely carbonated and too thick to be sessionable. Better than some of this style but they all blend together for my unrefined tastebuds.
