Dark golden color, leaning just a bit towards amber. Just a bit cloudy. Very fine head, though not a huge one. Not fading at all. Strong malt aroma, sweet with some caramel and honey. Strong malt flavor, slightly oily and buttery, sweet, with a bit of fresh fruit, pears? Also a bit tart, with honey and strong alcohol. Very close to an Austrian or Bavarian helles bock. Good hopping, better than your average German or Austrian bock, but not as outstanding as they are claiming. Finish of some hops, alcohol, and sweet malt. A well-hopped hellbock. Good. Pours clear medium gold with a one finger foamy white head that results in decent lacing. The nose is lemon zest, malt and light hops. The taste is citrus, malt, light grain and some floral hops in the finish. Medium mouthfeel - decent beer. craftbeerdesign (768), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Sep 10, 2009 Bottle. Pours an orangish gold with a pretty small head and aromas of pears, honey and booze. Flavor is a fairly heavy fruit and honey/biscuit maltiness with an astringent and unashamed alcohol presence. This just doesn’t blend together very well. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 2, 2009 Cloudy pale gold pils, thin white spittle looking head, lacing. Smells of earth and egg, some grass. Bitter draw but very settling in the mouth. Nice mouthfeel, cool and slightly bitter again in the finish. Very easy drinking and could be a gateway beer to other microbrews. 17thfloor (1513), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Pours a clear glowing copper with a medium bubbly white frothy head that fades into a finer dense white froth with lovely lacing. Aroma is quite richly malty for a pils, the amarillos are also misleading, caramel sweetness, some fruity melon accentuated by the alcohol. Flavor is really nice and mellow yet a very intriguing juxtaposition of American ale flavors melded with the smoothness of lagering. First taste is rich caramel with light cheese and citrus, an odd combo but it works, the alcohol really brightens the richness, some bees wax, melon, light bread. Finishes a bit buttery with some pleasant alcohol warmness. Mild lasting bitterness. Medium bodied with a heavier mouth-feel, smooth softly glassy sensation with slightly fizzy fluffy carbonation. Would love to get one fresh.
