Nicely full bodied, with farily assertive hop bite. Crisp, spicy hops in th finish, as well. Would have never suspected the 7.5% abv, either. Thanks to Springslicker for sharing this one. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 15, 2006 Updated: Jun 29, 2006This brewer is a bit hit or miss with me. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark honey color with a medium sized yellow-tan head. The aroma is lightly sweet and vaguely spicy. The flavor is sweet, lightly fruity and has a strong spicy hop presence with a peppery finish. Not bad. Hangover (772), Atlanta, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 11, 2006 Golden pour, with visible active carbonation and a nice frothy head, although it does recede pretty quickly. Aroma is of bisquit and grassy hops. Taste is light, especialily considering the abv in this one. It’s also pretty sweet, but not really cloying. Tastes like an above average pils... some light spice, hay. Finish is crisp, somewhat sticky but there is still that bit of a sour finish I just don’t like... not quite of macro corn, but close. I just can’t get into that area between pils and imperial pils... For summer I’ll pick a weiss or weak ipa. Good for the style, but bleh. jcwattsrugger (5581), Florida and, New Jersey, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 7, 2006 12oz bottle best before May06-pours a big foamy, 2 finger high then rocky white head with clear gold color. Aroma is citrus, pine, grain. Taste, initially pine, sweet grain and harsh hops seemed to clash & not blend at all. After about ½ a glass, it mellows and blends nicely. sfontain (507), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 31, 2006 Light amber and orange; surprisigly big head--big enough to fill a pint glass. Fairly aromatic; floral, bready, with significant hops. Flavor is similarly bready with a bit of grassiness from the hops; borderline astringent bitterness. Thin yet syrupy. The whole is not greater than the sum of the parts, however. TheBeerLover (1019), DC Metro Area, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 27, 2006 Small Craft Warning Uber Pils is brewed with German Pils and Carapils malts. It is then hopped with four different hops including Amarillo, Saaz, Hersbrucker, and Tettnag hops. It comes in at a hefty 7% abv, but like the OD Spring Brew, you would never believe you were drinking a beer of that strength. The aromas, flavors, and alcohol are on a higher level, but remain very balanced and drinkable.
Uber Pils pours to a beautiful, bright, deep golden color with a thick and creamy white head, and a good bit of carbonation. The nose on this beer is fantastic with lots of herbal/grassy hop aromas that flood the nose. The palate is firm, with lots of crisp pilsner malt flavor, on a slick and full body. Uber Pils finishes with more great pilsner malt flavor up front, then ends with a wonderful, zesty, herbal hop bite that linger on the tongue.
A very impressive beer with tons of character. I really love how big this beer is, yet how round and polished it is as well. These beefy, brawny lagers are a welcome addition to the craft beer world. Uber Pils is a natural with any hearty German fare, or grilled meats. biznizness (956), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 24, 2006 Strong lager, cannot say I am very familiar with this style. I thought it was a pils because it says uber pils on the side. As pointed out by previous raters, not very good in terms of a pils. Not crisp enough, thus kind of assy, but now that I see this is a stronger beer I kind of understand. All in all, not bad. I would probably drink this again. michael-pollack (2749), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 12, 2006 12oz. Bottle: Aroma of a pils, with some yeasty notes on top of strong malt scent. Also a bit sweet smelling. Poured golden in color with big, frothy head that did not last long. Clear. Small lacing. Flavor is sweet and dominated by wheaty malts. Definitaly on the bock side more than the pils side. Full bodied. Lively carbination. Over, it’s an ok strong lager, but not very useful if you are looking for a pils.
