A hearty (8% ABV) but pretty under-whelming pumpkin beer. Appearance is an orange murkiness with not much head. The flavor was pretty decent, but this beer seemed to have hardly any carbonation, and rather than being rich in mouthfeel like some other low-carbonation beers (Imperial Stouts), this beer came off as flat and kind of uninspired. But, the aroma and flavor were pretty good - lots of spice but somehow not quite as pumpkin-y as other really good pumpkin beers. I really like the pumpkin beer genre, and have had quite a few this year, and my three favorites are Southern Tier Pumking, Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin, and Hoppin’ Frog Imperial Pumpkin. This beer is nowhere near as good as those three, but is still a pretty enjoyable. I wouldn’t go out of my way to get it, but I thought it OK.

Dec 21, 2009 really spicy aroma- nutmeg and cinnamon. Like egg nog on the nose- moutghfeel is very dry and fizzy. Not too much flavor, definitely not of pumpkin. I expected a lot more in this. Overall thin.

Dec 20, 2009 22 oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy copper orange body with a very minimal off-white head that completely vanished within seconds. The nose is spice heavy with mostly nutmeg but a lighter note of cinnamon. There’s a fairly hefty caramel and toffee maltiness below. The flavor is very sweet with lots of caramel under the heavy nutmeg and allspice. I like that there’s not as much cinnamon as there is in many pumpkin beers though. Long lingering spice and caramel on the finish. Fairly heavy and thick on the palate with a little stickiness. Very prickly fizzy carbonation. Overall this wasn’t bad, but not as enjoyable as Weyerbacher Impy Pumpkin.

Appearance: Pours a clear, robust dark orange body with a susdy, frothy, ivory-colored head. It thins down into a fine, thin layering, though it has some nice staying power.
Smell: Well-spiced, bready nose with plenty of chunky pumpkin notes. It’s a nicely fragrant bowl stirred up with brown sugar, cinnamon, and bread crumbs is what it is.
Taste: It’s bready, sweet, and spicy. Dry, crumbly, lightly toasted bready malt profile generously coated in dark brown sugar and cinnamon and nutmeg. This one has just the right amount of pumpkin flesh flavor. Mildly bitter though with a restrained hop character, allowing for the spices to shine. The very faintest touch of warming alcohol nearing the end. Drying, spicy finish with a faint, lingering taste of pumpkin.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: A good, admirable, though not great pumpkin brew, but I will certainly say it exceeded my modest expectations after the lackluster showing of the previous members of the Mutiny Fleet. Give it a try, provided you’re a fan of pumpkin ales!

Dec 13, 2009 orange pour. This one has the normal pumpkin and spice aroma but also has more hops than most pumpkin beers. And flavor is much hoppier than most pumpkins. The minute you think the spice and pumpkin might be too much you get a really nice hit of hops. A really good twist on the normal pumpkin beer,.

Dec 6, 2009 Bottle thanks to bman1113vr. Pours a murky gold with off-white head. Aroma of nutmeg and pumpkin. Flavor of pumpkin, nutmeg, some faint sweetness. Mouth feel is medium body with medium-high carbonation. Overall, not bad at all, pretty tasty!

Nov 27, 2009 Pours out a nice mostly clear orange color with a light off white head. Aroma of nutmeg, cinnamon and other typical pumpkin spices along with a little bit of sweet malt and a slightly boozy note in there too. Taste is of pumpkin pie spices, namely cinnamon, nutmeg and a little clove with a few other spice notes in there too, slight malty notes and a touch of some bitterness, but the boozy alcohol notes from the aroma follow into the taste and are present throughout, granted its 8%, but the alcohol could have been a lot more hidden.

Nov 25, 2009 Decent beer that’s somewhat pumpkiney but not to the likes of Pumpking or Weyerbacher. Decent, but not great. Can’t see what the rave is about. Some sour beer tastes otherwise drown out other tastes that could have been done up in a more refined beer. But perhaps that’s why those others are higher rated. Glad I tried it none the less.

Nov 25, 2009 Bottle thanks to bman1113vr. The look is clear, orange in color, and has an off white head. The taste is sweet, puimpkin, and spices. The smell is nutmeg, pumpkin, cinnammon, and good.
