Commercial Description:
Pale, Crystal, Carapils and Munich malts. Magnum, Fuggles, Cascade, Centennial and Chinook Hops. This ale is pure hop power but perfectly balanced with a rich malt character. Floral and aromatic, the hop character is enhanced by the technique of dry hopping, a traditional method of increasing aroma. Available from mid-October to February.

Found this after some serious searching in the dc area, and it was well worth the wait. Pours burnt umber with nose of fires and flowers. Spicy and thick flavor, well-balanced, overall a fantastic example of the double IPA!

Deep copper pour, with a huge hop and fruit aroma and taste, backed by a huge caramel malt bill, to use a phrase from one of my favorite wrestlers of all time, Bret Hart, this was one of the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be, and anyone that disagrees is an asshole!

Found this while rummaging around in the fridge, know I got it as a trade extra but its been a while, thanks to the unknown/forgotten trader. Pours out with a decent copper color with a nice sized head. Aroma is of citrus hops maybe some floral there also. Taste is very nice with a decent balance and suprisingly drinkable as compared to another beer I had from the brewery..cough cough impy stout.

This beer offers a strong aroma of hops and citrus fruit. It is copper colored and has a good thick white head. This bitter beer offers a taste of hops and grapefruit as it perks the tongue. The taste of hops lingers well on the palate after the fluid has left the mouth.

Clear orange-amber body shows a shy carbonation that still manages to raise a satisfying white head that mostly lasts as a cover. Fading hop character still shows a strong affinity with citrus fruit, over a woody, earthy bed of bittering hops that may have lost some of their power. The malts have lost none of their lust on the other hand. A pointy toastiness peaks left and right, feeling adding some lager character to the sweeter crystals. Biscuity nature could use a heftier carbonation to distribute the flavors more evenly, it feels a little underattenuated at this late age, with heavy bitterness, but still a fair bit of residual sugars. Medium bodied, slightly oily feel. No oxidation trace. Good, but barely in the shadow of the most aromatics and cohesive examples.

I didn’t know this was a retired beer. It only recently (last several months) showed up in Georgia. Aroma was typical of ann IPA, not a DIPA, IMO. There was a heavy hop/resin aroma, but the Loose Cannon (from the same brewer) has more hop/resin aroma. The head was cream, off-white and mostly diminished. Body was clear, but there was yeast visible. Moderate bitter taste initially and throughout. Real good carbonation. Good, but not great DIPA.
