That is a good thing as this hop heaven balances bitter, flowery, and malt roast flavor so skillfully. hopscotch (5549), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 2, 2005 Hazy, copper ale with a medium-sized, creamy, off-white head. Decent retention and good, creamy lacework.
The nose is of sherry, black pepper, grapefruit, light caramel and cologne.
Bitter from beginning to end. Generous malt as well. Full-bodied with a very dry mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Lengthy, mojave-dry finish. Great stuff! clifford0163 (93), Maryland, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 14, 2005 Bottle: Courtesy of Degarth via trade. Aroma is almost all caramel. Very little hops. Pours a bright transparent orange with a small white head. Lots of caramel and toffee throughout. Finish has some very slight hints of citrus hops. Very tastey, but lacking the hops that I expect in a IIPA. irishsnake (353), Oakland, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 15, 2005 beer pours an attractive orange/amber with a well-retained head that leaves good lace. nose is a combination of almost sour citric hops, along with very sweet caramel malt notes. flavor follows the nose - sweet and chewy up front, with a big American/citric hop back. rather alcoholic too. not a bad beer, but a very standard domestic big beer - like a somewhat toned down Bigfoot. too sweet for me, though stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 20, 2005 Huge off white head which takes a long time to settle. Thick sheet of lacing remains. Great carbonation. Light caramel malts are melded very well with the large hops presence in the aroma. Little floral and grassy. Color is a bright orange. Medium bodied with a very nice balance. Plenty of malts (caramel) to offset the large hops. Little bit of roastyness along with some bitter orange and flowers. Little bit of alcohol warmng. Finish has a nice bitterness and is a little sweet. A pretty good IIPA. DrunkAsASkunk (847), Lynnwood, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 4, 2005 This beer pours a red amber color with a medium bodied white head with small to medium lacing on the sides of the glass. Overall a clear liquid with a small carbonation tornado. The aroma is hoppy and citrusy with hints of caramel and stickyness. Some hints of grapefruit and candy sugar in the nose...vanilla even. The flavor is medium to full bodied leading into a dry finish... malty and caramelized. Very little bitterness despite 50 IBU’s plus....some citrusy hop flavor in the finish, but generally dominated by candy sugar in mid sip... caramel and butterscotch body followed by a malty slightly bitter finish.. this is pretty good!
