Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very light caramel color with a small tan head. The aroma is sweet and hoppy. The flavor has a strong hop presence and has a light caramel and nut undertone. The body is overall lighter than I would have preferred. dberger624 (1028), Phila, Pennsylvania, USA

Heavy taste but a bit on the sweet side. Nice semi-dry finish. I picked this one up just to have something a bit different and I am sure glad I did. Pretty decent stuff. raymow (738), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Apr 1, 2005 I’m surprised to see that this is a double IPA because I wasn’t thinking that at all while I was drinking it. I didn’t notice a "huge amount" of hops and I didn’t love it. It was decent and got better after the initial sip, but it was nothing to write home about. kujo9 (1077), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Mar 30, 2005 12 oz bottle: Lasting large off white head w/a medium amber body. Lemony/grapefruit citrusy hop aroma @ first, then perfumey pine alcohol as it warms. Hints of malt, but seems one dimensionally hoppy. Well balanced, but has a soapy hop flavor w/ some light floral citrus notes. Bland, flat malt character in the middle that carries into the short bland finish & aftertaste. Semi dry finish; again, one dimensional. Smooth body, low carbonation, lighter body. I was not certain what type of beer this was when I was taking notes, but I thought it was a weak, one dimensional pale ale. I see the alcohol is 7.5 which surprises me. It’s well hidden, but it’s also a mediocre beer that needs more malt character to make this more interesting to me. DogfishKing (22), USA

Strong hop floral aroma promises and does not disappoint once tasted. Grapefruit-orange notes with a signature bitter bite in the aftertaste, nicely balanced by the restrained sweetness of pale malts. Quite nice brew. I think I’ll have another. beerguy101 (3946), Newark, California, USA

Aroma is floral and grapefruity hop, a touch sweet. A medium to full bodied Imperial IPA. Malts are fruity and sweet, touch of caramel. Hops are grapefruity with a touch of pine. Medium bitter, fairly hoppy imperial India Pale Ale. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
