Commercial Description:
Pale, Crystal, Carapils and Munich malts. Magnum, Fuggles, Cascade, Centennial and Chinook Hops. This ale is pure hop power but perfectly balanced with a rich malt character. Floral and aromatic, the hop character is enhanced by the technique of dry hopping, a traditional method of increasing aroma. Available from mid-October to February.

Hoppy, but not painfully so. Not really that much of a Double IPA. Not that great of a beer. A decent brew, though I don’t know why a IPA is wintery.

On cask: This beer had a very kick. Impressive. A lot of orange and hops. Not bad for a double IPA, i had expected a lot more hops. Very well balanced

I had this, cask-conditioned, at the RFD tasting. A fruity pale ale. Nice cloudy lemony taste with a slow blooming hop.

very cloudy amber...on tap at RFD tasting. hop aroma, very fruity, and follows through with huge bitterness, and a tinge of belgian character. pretty decent

Bottle - thanks to axilla for the trade. Pours gorgeous redditsh amber with a moderate beige head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is mild, malty with a floral hoppiness. Good flavor, nice balance of sweet, mild malts and bold hops - assertive but not overpowering. Light to medium body and brash carbonation. Nice beer and very enjoyable. Too bad they only make this in winter...

Fairly sweet aroma. Very crisp, sweet with some good hops. A very enjoyable beer.

This is a fine strong ale - sure, maybe the malts and alc% veer it towards IIPA, but geez, I’ve tasted more hops in some regular pale ales. Ok, the aroma has a big hop - piney, citrus, some sweetness. Taste is sweet thick bready malts and a super tasty orange juice hop with hints of pine. I really do like this. Grabbed this bottle at D’s in Pittsburgh, 11/11/04

On tap at Andy’s Corner. Clear, dark amber color with a thick white head. Nice hoppy/piney aroma. Flavor was more subdued than the aroma let on. Hoppy, but not overly so. Nice malt balance.
