Commercial Description:
Modeled after the style of beer produced in Baltimore just after Prohibition. The beer is pale in color, is made with 100% malt, and has a very mild Hersbrucker hop character. A great example of the kind of beer our grandfathers consumed.

less corn than I often find in a light lager, which is a good thing. Less corn, more porn I always say! This beer doesn’t overcarbonate, which is great, and the mouthfeel is actual body and not tingly Bud bubbles as a replacement. Like boobs, you gotta have the real thing. This is a respectable lager, nothing to write Larry Flynt about.

Poured a dull gold, head was quickly diminishing. Aroma was generally sweet; with grassy/earthiness, fruit, and some light hops. Low carbonation created a good mouthfeel for a lager. Slightly sweet flavor with a lot of honey and grain up front with earthy/grass finish. For the style this was good.

This pours quite yellow/pale. The npse is light hops and the moutfeel offers slight notes of hops and malt. The palate is crisp with a bit a density. A nice upgrade from the historical beers!

Light apple juice body with quickly dissipating off-white head. Aroma is sweet grassy, apple. Taste is bland lager -- apple sweet, slightly grassy, virtually no bitterness. Watery light body

Bottle, from sampler 6 pack, best by May 2008. Orange-gold with small dissipating head. Aroma is grain corn, slight hops and lager yeast, though not skunky. Taste is pretty good for a lager; seems like a cream ale-style lager. Palate is light-medium and finishes with a dry tingle. I like the lower level of carbonation in this beer. Not bad if you have to have a lager, but this brewery has better beers, so why bother?

12oz bottle. Golden hued and filtered. Touch astringent. Decent nose. Light body. Negliable hop character. Small step above swill.

Bought this bottle recently, but the sticker says best fresh before Feb. 2005. I can only hope that they’re using old labels and I’m to infer Feb. 2007 ... which is still a little old. C’est la vie. A pretty hefty cooked corn aroma with beany hops and mild grain sweetness. Dull yellow-golden clear with thin white head. Medium light body with mild carbonation. Kind of dull. Starts with papery dull cooked corn and little sweetness. Beany finish with very little hops presence. Either this is extremely old or not well traveled. If that old, shame on local distributors for still selling this. If fresh, shame on the brewer. Finish is dull with cooked corn sweetness. Mild beany after. Dull overall.
