Commercial Description:
In Belgium, one of the world’s greatest brewing regions, the tradition of blending fruit with beer has achieved cult status. We decided to create an American interpretation that we present as Oxford Raspberry. The beer is light and refreshing and finished with real raspberries giving it a fruity aroma, and quenching tartness.

(12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with slob, thanks Bert!) Funny, I used to think this was one of the finest raspberry beers in the world, and even one of the guys in my circle of friends would drink this stuff religiously (something about a low bilirubin levels). Times change, and either my tastes have matured, or this beer is just a shadow of its prior self. Probably both, actually, because this isn’t all that good, and I know I wouldn’t have liked this beer even back then. It’s certainly dominated by some sort of moderately sweet raspberry flavor, though it tastes pretty artificial to me. But the big problem is the base, which is pretty grainy, lightly bitter, and somewhat unpleasant. I don’t even want to know what this would taste like without the raspberry there as a mask. Aromas of raspberry and grain in the nose. Light bodied, and very fizzy on the palate. Amber in color and fairly cloudy. Bubbly, effervescent, off-white head dissipates very rapidly to a small ring. No lacing. Hmm, I used to drink this stuff and enjoy it, now I can’t even finish half the bottle.

Fruity aroma, clear darkish appearance. Very fruity (raspberry) flavored. Sweet and very easy to drink. Good to drink on it’s own if you are looking for something a bit different.

Pretty sweet with a strong, noticeable raspberry taste. Extremely drinkable and not all that beery. Enjoyable b/c the base beer used is so mild and unassuming, while the raspberry extract is assertive. I’d recommend this.

12 oz bottle. Best before Oct ’05. Pours with a thin head made of large bubbles that seems artificial. Sour raspberry aroma. Sweet raspberry flavor that screams extract to me. A bit thin and watery. Tastes almost like a wine cooler, not that I’ve ever had one. A good beer to buy your girlfriend at the bar.

Poured a light clear pink with a small amount of white fizzy head that quickly dissapates. Almost looks like a white zinfandel. Aroma was, of course, raspberry, but not overpoweringly so. Flavor is light, a bit watery, and very raspberryish, though once again, not too much that it overpowers the beer and makes it shitty. overall, i found this to be quite refreshing for a summer night.

Draft. small off-white head that was mostly lasting, very nice lacing, transparent, very little carbonation, and an amber hue. Aroma was raspberry sweet as was the flavor. Mouthfeel was tingly and raspberries. Light-medium body. Have had better beers of this style.

Bottle. Poured (snifter) light straw color with a hint of red; very little head. Nose is subtle red raspberries, fresh smelling, but unfortunately that’s it. None of the wheat that’s hinted at. Very bubbly mouthfeel, almost effervescent. Flavor, sadly, mimics aroma-- faint fresh red raspberry and then it’s gone. Pretty disappointing. Very watery, went flat before I finished it. Perhaps I had a skunked bottle, but I don’t really care, I was underwhelmed. Tasted like a very weak, uninspired lambic.

Golden in color with a pinkish hue, medium white head. Aroma of mild raspberries. Little fruit flavor with a dry finish.
