Flavor is kind of caramelly....nothing special. Dark tan in appearance with a head that hung around for a while. Keep looking for a better pale ale is what I say. Drew (2410), Kent, Ohio, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 4, 2004 Dark goledn and clear, short head an light lacing. Aroma does have some citrus hop to it - that’s a good sign! Unfoturnately, there’ not an abundance of taste here - malts are sweet and caramel but kind of watery bodied. There is a decent hop ending, but not enough to make up for the lack of body. donvitozou (141), memphis, Tennessee, USA

| 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 1/10 | 1/5 | 3/20 | Nov 24, 2004 I bought a case of this after a long search with help from the Brewer’s sales department. I wish I hadn’t found it. The beer was extremelt bitter and had a lingering aftertaste. Also it tasted very carbonated and gave me heartburn. The aroma, appearance were deceptive at best as I thought this was going to be a great one. I prefer Clipper Citys Gold for an Ale. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 7, 2004 (12 oz bottle, obtained in trade with jasonp, thanks Jason!) A fairly malty nose leads the way for this decent and drinkable pale ale. It’s balanced more toward the malty end of the spectrum, and minimally sweet, with a slight roastiness adding a somewhat robust flavor, but a nice hops bite keeps this beer honest. This is a medium bodied beer, with hops and carbonation adding a bit of zing to the palate. Dark amber in color, darker than most pale ales. Off-white head has good size during the pour, but settles down to a sheen, while leaving quite a bit of lacing behind. Wouldn’t seem out of place if this was offered as a fall seasonal. Flavorful, enjoyable, easy to drink, pretty decent overall. jasonp (1513), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Sep 15, 2004 Pours a beautiful clear amber with an off white head. Aroma is malty and lightly floral. Taste is of caramel malt, butterscotch, citrus and toastiness with a nice touch of hop bitterness. Can use more malty sweetness IMO. Mouthfeel is full and round. Lively carbonation. Overall, not bad by any means but kind of boring. amx1970390 (466), Southampton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 1/20 | Sep 8, 2004 A nice looking pale ale. But its lacks a good hop falvor and is a little watery. More like an american standard. drkilmer (35), Myersville, Maryland, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 19, 2004 On tap. A golden amber beer with a small but persistent head. Aroma was nice with elements of citrus but very little grain. I was disappointed in the taste. Too light and crips. A nice beer to quaff while eating a hamburger, but not a standout Pale Ale.
