Flavor is predominately caramel and malt, with a touch of chocolate in the end. An enjoyable session on a cool day.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 18, 2007 (Tap) Pours a murky brown color with a nice tan head. Smooth, earthy aroma. Peat and some smoke in the taste, with a medium palate. Some oak in the flavor as well. A pretty complex beer by Coach’s standards. It is one of the better offerings here. kreepindeth (405), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 8, 2007 Color is dark brown with minimal head. Tastes like a dry brown ale with some hints of whisky and some peat smoke. I really enjoy this beer. jzzbassman (850), New Albany, Mississippi, USA

Poured dark brown with a thin head. Everything in this beer is muted and thin. Just left me wanting something to hang on to about it. Really seemed more Scotch than Irish style wise, but the malt was not as dominant. Papsoe (15103), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Mar 20, 2006 (On tap) Clear, warm mahogany with a reddish tint. No head to speak of. Vaguely tart, malty nose. Medium body with accents of roasted malt and then - unfortunately again - some moldy, fusty notes before a short, dry finish sets in. Had this in spring, so not really a winter special anymore. 200306 BeerandBlues2 (3230), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 28, 2003 Updated: Feb 25, 2004Deep brown, slightly amber appearance. Full frothy white head. A peaty malt aroma dominates this one.. It tastes of pale hops, and is generally smooth and subtle... not too complex but not bad. Malts show through towards the end of the drink. As it warms, there are slight hints of wood flavor, and by the end of the glass.
