Pours a very dark, chocolate brown color; light tan head with decent retention and patchy, fine-bubbled lacing. Roasted malts, dark / bitter chocolate, and cocoa in the aroma; basic, roasted imperial stout nose. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: roasted / charred malts, dark chocolate, some bitter coffee and nougat; decent, reasonably well-composed imperial stout, but nothing special. Medium finish: toasty malts, bread, roasted malts, and bitter chocolate. acrdz (4360), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jul 10, 2008 22oz bottle shared by CaptainCougar. Pours dark brown/cola color with some red light at the bottom of the glass. Minimal head from the pour but it swirls us nicely into a thick cake of brown colored foam. Nice nose of sweetened chocolate and roast, some toffee as well, pretty much a basic imperial stout nose but done quite well. Silky and smooth on the palate, then some faint roast/coarseness over the back, a light touch of alcohol, some very faint sweetened black plums, and you’ve got yourself a pretty nice imperial stout.
