Pours a hazy golden orange with a small creamy white head that recedes slowly and leaves a soapy film along the top and some spotty lacing.
The aroma is big and fruity with lots of sweet tropical citrus, including grapefruits, pineapples and oranges. There is also a solid caramel malt aroma.
The taste is just as good but a little bit different as the hops start off with a more astringent bitterness than I was expecting. The sweetness is provided by the caramel malts with a sugary character as well.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied and sticky with hops and caramel malts. The carbonation is solid, especially considering it’s from a growler.
I’ve been impressed with most Coast beers and this one is no exception. It’s a hop-forward, but not over-the-top, DIPA that remains extremely drinkable. Good stuff.
