Beautiful golden appearance with a froth of film on top had me marvel at such a good looking pilsner. Mild amounts of grained malt and foregin hops make this a very quaffable beer to the last drop. Pours clear golden with a fluffy white head that leaves a bit of spotty lacing. Aroma is sweet and grainy, with a bit of lemon, hay and floral hops. Sweet, toasty, and flavorful, a bit more blonde ale-like than pilsner-ish to me, but good all the same, lemon peel and spice with a biting, peppery finsih. Medium body and assertive carbonation. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 22, 2006 Quite a suprise, given my last outing with Farmhouse (porter) which I thought was a near drain pour. This one is exceptionally good. A nice sweet and fruity aroma, an orangish color with a nice head with dissapated quickly. Mouthfeel was lively without being harsh. Taste was extremely refreshing, very clean with a nice bitter bite and enough malty to balance everything out in a way that makes this one drinkable beer. I’m off to go buy mass amounts of this pils for the summer time. Highly recommended!!! FoolishMortal (965), San Diego, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 20, 2006 22oz. bottle. Yellow-gold color with a medium sized rocky white head. Malty sweetness component to the aroma, combined with a mild hop grassiness and evident graininess. Fruity, estery flavor marrs an otherwise fairly clean malt profile with citric and herbal hops that manifest later. Fairly dry, somewhat sweet and grainy finish. Mouthfeel is light medium, somewhat dry. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 12, 2006 (22 oz bottle: $2.99 at BevMo in La Jolla, CA) Very grainy, fairly grassy and a bit husky in flavor, but rather on the sweet side, and there’s a surprising fruitiness that doesn’t bother me, but seems to defy the advertised claim that this is a European-style pilsner. Bitter, lightly citrusy hop bite helps to balance the sweetness to some degree, and gradually establishes permanence on the palate. The grainy nose is nearly as sweet as the flavor, but it’s far less hoppy or grassy, and in general isn’t all that aromatic. Medium in body, and despite having a certain crispness, the heavy, sweet malts ensure that this isn’t nearly as clean as many European pilseners. Carbonation is moderate. Pale golden in color with near-perfect clarity, I’m seeing quite a range in the size and speed of the carbonation bubbles. Some are large and move at break-neck speed toward the surface. But others are actually forming not at the base or side of the glass, but right in the middle of the beer -- I’ve never seen that happen before. The white head is very rocky with very wide cells that when they eventually break down, the head deflates. In general, I like that this is a malty pilsener, but I’d enjoy it more if it were less sweet. beerguy101 (3946), Newark, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 20, 2006 This pilsner pours a light orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Medium to large sized white foamy head. Aroma is fruity and sweet. Touch of graininess. A medium bodied pilsner. Malts are fruity and sweet and grainy and grassy. Lots of orange and citrus flavors as well. Hops are aggressive for a pilsner, fairly bitter grapefruit and citrus. Has a crisp clean taste, a nice malt backbone and a fairly strong hop bite. Needless to say this is my kind of pils. Light and refreshing with lots of flavor. The farm house series of beers from Coast Range continues to be an interesting and very drinkable beers, bb (2930), Martinez, California, USA
