Headbanger (1574), Aurora, Illinois, USA Apr 12, 2009 22oz bottle 4/12/09 (Woodmans-Green Bay)-Pours a hazy golden body with a small white covering. Aroma of hops, grains, and malt. Taste of the same with a bit of citrus and oldness. Agree with JPDIPSO about the age. I know Coast Range closed in ’07 but why is this beer still on shelves especially a year later. This light bodied brew is not bad but because of age not as crisp as it should be. notalush (2627), Denver, Colorado, USA Jun 24, 2008 Wow, this is strange - retired with two ratings? - I bought a bottle of this last week at a grocery store in Wisconsin and drank it in my hotel room - oh well, you folks out there aren’t missing much - hazy golden beer (an unfiltered kolsch?) with a minimal head - smells of honey and orange marmalade, with some grassy hops underneath - peppery hops up front, but the beer quickly becomes far too heavy and sweet for the style - some soft floral character mixed in as the bitterness fades - like JPDIPSO states, it’s just not clean and crisp like a kolsch should be. JPDIPSO (4863), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Apr 29, 2008 Retired?, Bottles are just hitting the shelves in the midwest, did they find an old lot and move them here? Between the bad Kilt Lifter and if this is also the case, some distributors are pulling some major crap! Golden color with a taller, but diminishing dark cream colored head. Looks ok. Light floral and pale malt aromas. Some hints of grain and husks. Stale malt sweetness and some chalk. Dusty floral hops in the middle. Mild cardboard. Some hints of apple and the finish. Not at crisp as I like. drpimento (785), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Jun 30, 2007 Very nice beer. It’s a shade darker than the brewery’s pils. which is a clear yellow gold. Nice foamy head with lots of lace. Spicy nose. Flavor’s a fruity bittersweet with pronounced hop on the tongue. Balanced. Good finish. Drinkable.
