Nate (2239), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 7, 2008 From bottle courtesy of Naka. Heavy on the cooked vegetable, with corn and light herbal hops. Some candi sugar sweetness, mild alcohol. Sweet but off. Light golden clear with thin white lacing head. Medium body with light to medium carbonation. Tastes alright despite the aroma, with mild wheat, candi sugar, and light alcohol. Light bitter finish. Not reminding me of a saison so much as a light tripel. Sweet alcoholic finish, a bit watery.
tennisjoel (731), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA Aug 26, 2008 Bought this down in Madison based on elgaucho’s recomendation. I didn’t realize this brewer has gone out of business. Pour is golden orange. Taste is sweet, not really reminicent of many saisons. Apple juice, peach, a slight tartness. A little peppery, as well as some honey flavor. Mediciny finish. As I go through this bomber, the sweetness becomes sickening and thus, I am forced to pour out the last 1/4 of the bottle. Shame. Naka (415), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 5, 2008 A hazy orange honey color with a small fizzy white head. It really smells like buttered canned corn. A little alcohol, honey, and grainy characteristics. The flavor is a little better with some yeasty funk, slight apricot, peach, and a pretty strong hop character. Spicy with some clove and a touch of ginger. Pretty decent body. Leaves a little bit of bitterness on the tongue. santoslhalper (166), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 5, 2008 Courtesy of Naka. I know nothing about this brewery, and this rating is purely objective.. Clear gold with a thin, non existent white head. No retention. Cooked corn aroma. Diacytal (sp?) to the fullest! Some sweet, spicy acidic notes, but most veggies and cardboard. Taste is actually not too bad though, with some funk, floral, clove, wheat, citric, and bubblegum notes, but sadly some hints of dirty foot. Oddly crisp and clean. Farmhouse lager? Hmm, weird, and not particularly enjoyable. dpjuart (555), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 3, 2008 22 oz. bomber courtesy of Naka shared with Exec Board. Pours yellow with foamy head, quickly dissipating. Nose of buttered corn and skunky wheat bread. Taste is sweet corn, lager-esque with fruity lemon and apple. There’s also some mild spice with alcohol warmth and flavor at the end. Not much of a saison.
