650 ml bottle from Bevmo. Dark brown with a fluffy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted barley, and an earthy, grassy aroma. Grassy and chocolate taste with some smoky notes to the finish.

Appearance: Pours a black body with a thin, khaki-colored head. Smell: Roasted barley aroma with a rich dark chocolate quality. Hints of anise and fainter still is a soft whiff of tobacco. Taste: The flavor is predominantly roasty, with only a very subtle sweetness. Sadly, there’s far less chocolate in the taste than the nose led me to believe. More of the anise and tobacco leaves. Extremely light hint of fruit prior to the chalky finish with a light lingering bitterness. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Fairly mild carbonation, with an overall soft mouthfeel. Drinkability: Not nearly as dull or dreary as the Winslow Homer-esque painting on the label would have you believe.

Pours a mostly opaque black with mahogany edges and a thin covering of dark tan head. Aroma of lightly toasted and sweet dark caramel and chocolate malts. Body starts with a nice chocolatey sweetness and good roasted caramel balance toward a bittersweet finish. A nice porter.

Pours a blackened ruby. This isn’t the worst of porters, but it’s a little roasty and ends up coming across like a thin stout. Not really all that bad. Pretty dry, though.

Near black, small to moderate light tan head, decent lacing and retention. Aroma is more English style... soft chocolates and some caramel. Light hops, not much for roast. Sweet and softer take on the style. Enjoyable.

Trade, thanks. Pour was black, like day old coffee. Tight creamy tan head. Nose was coffee and caramel and vanilla and some hops. Very nice dry mouth feel, with a bitter ending leaving a cramy after taste. Good hint of peat-smoke lingers. Nice porter here folks.

22oz bottle from my secret santa in July! - Thanks! - Poured dark brown with a large mocha head and lots of lace. Aromas of smoke, chocolate and lots of roasted malts. Flavor is lots of roasted and burnt notes. A little tobacco behind that and some dark chocolate notes come through from below. Palate is pretty airy but smooth in the mouth. Not too bad
