22 oz. bottle from BevMo in LaJolla, consumed in summer 2006. Clear medium amber color with a large fluffy of white head and a single, pretty stream of bubbles from the bottom. Toasty malts, lightly fruity with mild citrus and alfalfa hops. Nice hoppy amber ale flavor, toasty malts with lemon, a bit of grass and ample floral hops. Light to medium body, gentle carbonation. Another solidly made and servicable ale from Coast Range.

650 ml bottle from Bevmo. Orange amber with a fizzy white head. Malty citrus aroma. Medium bodied palate with a syrupy mouthfeel. Citrus and malt taste with decent earthy hops showing through in the finish.

This is brewed in Gilroy and so I am willing to accept this is from Coast Range, but nowhere on the bottle does it list their name. I had heard somewhere they were going to try to change their name ,so maybe that is what is going on. It poured from a 22 oz bottle at cellar temperature a rich amber color with a very fat and long lasting head that left lots of lacing. While this is called by the brewer an American Pale Ale, to me it tasted richer and more aromatic than most APAs I have sampled. The mouthfeel was rich and clean and the malts and hops are well balanced. Favor is complex, with flowers, herbs, spices, and fruit. Good medium bitter finish, Very similar to Sierra Nevada PA and very easy to drink.

amber color with a decent head. hoppy aroma that has notes of spicy citrus fruit and floral herbs. medium light bodied. the malt comes out more (toffee) in the taste but the beer is still dominated by the hops. tasting of spicy pineapple, and there is a light herbalness to the beer which i’m cant quite identify. medium bitter. overall pretty flavorable and pleasant

Bottle. Clear, deep copper pour with 2-finger, fluffy off-white head. Aroma is heavy hops, tropical fruit, caramel malt, some spicy peppery notes and a bit of mango. Tastes caramel malty, hoppy but not overpoweringly hoppy, with some finishing mango, black pepper, and peaches in light syrupy notes. This is one I’d easily stock by the case if i could.

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle at Bob’s McFarland Liquors in McFarland, Wisconsin. Pours a clear caramel amber brew with a thick lumpy head that slowly dissolves to a thin creamy layer and excellent lacing. Aroma of roasted caramel malt, grapefruit, some citrus zest and a touch of spring flowery hops. Taste is lightly carbonated, medium bodied with a more hop character than malt. Flavor has a distinct orange peel flavor with a hint of grapefruit, mint and some pepper. Finish is very bitter with a lingering citrus zest aftertaste. Very hoppy! More close to an IPA than a pale ale.

Ubiquitous pale yellow american lager appearance, but perhaps just a little haze. Thin fine head. Aroma of floral hops, somewhat like an IPA. Tries to come on like an IPA on the taste but is a little more mild and less offnsive. All the characteristics are there, they are just not that powerful. I expected more hops considering the aroma. Not one sided in flavor and barely any carbonation. Finish is OK and not too offensive. Just enough personality to let you know you are drinking something more than a pale yellow lager. Not bad for a hopped brew considering I don’t care for hops.

This beer poured a shade darker than the brewery’s kolsch. Had a light tan head and lots of lace. Aroma’s a spicy grapefruit which, frankly, is starting to get a bit old for me. Good carbonation. A bit warming. Flavor’s the same except some soapy notes. More hoppy. Good body. Ok beer.
