The hoppy bitterness bites immediately and stays with the tongue. It works really well with cajun! Swish it around the mouth, and there is substance. This could be characterized as a light IPA or a hoppy pale ale. There is a light sweetness finishing with dry astringency. Another, maybe the greatest, great ale from Coast Range. So who are these guys? SDalkoholic (1198), Chula Vista, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 30, 2006 After having the stonefence porter and the farmhouse ipa i kept my eye out for any other offerings from this label. Pours a golden brass color with a rough patch of foam on top. The nose is a friendly greeting of piney and grapefruit hops that are delightful to find in an american PA. A worthy ale. beerguy101 (3969), Newark, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 14, 2006 This American Pale Ale pours a medium amber gold color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is earthy, some malt and some tea. A medium bodied Pale Ale. Malts are bready, citrusy and sweet. Hops are floral and earthy, touch of citrus. A nice balanced APA. Towards the lighter milder pale ales, yet not quite an English Pale Ale, as there is a little too much hop flavor here. Nice beer, would make a nice session ale. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. hayduke (1673), Eureka, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 26, 2007 Updated: Sep 27, 2007This is brewed in Gilroy and so I am willing to accept this is from Coast Range, but nowhere on the bottle does it list their name. I had heard somewhere they were going to try to change their name ,so maybe that is what is going on. It poured from a 22 oz bottle at cellar temperature a rich amber color with a very fat and long lasting head that left lots of lacing. While this is called by the brewer an American Pale Ale, to me it tasted richer and more aromatic than most APAs I have sampled. The mouthfeel was rich and clean and the malts and hops are well balanced. Favor is complex, with flowers, herbs, spices, and fruit. Good medium bitter finish, Very similar to Sierra Nevada PA and very easy to drink. STEPHENDR (478), California, USA

Taste is solid and mouthfeel is pure and smooth. A nice beer that i recommend. badlizard (2385), Berkeley, California, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 17, 2007 Bottle. Clear, deep copper pour with 2-finger, fluffy off-white head. Aroma is heavy hops, tropical fruit, caramel malt, some spicy peppery notes and a bit of mango. Tastes caramel malty, hoppy but not overpoweringly hoppy, with some finishing mango, black pepper, and peaches in light syrupy notes. This is one I’d easily stock by the case if i could.
