| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 21, 2006 Pours an opaque mahogany with a spotty-lacing thin covering of light tan head. Big milk chocolatey aroma has some caramel maltiness. Body starts sweet and robust with lots of caramel and chocolate showing more bittering hoppy presence toward the lingering mocha coffee finish. A nicely-balanced, enjoyable porter. Thanks to tever for the bottle. HopheadHans (755), Bay Area, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 26, 2006 Pours dark with a large brown frothy head. Aromas of burnt malts. Flavors of burnt malts as well as chocolate. Not too much of a body but robust. Nice finish. robertjm (413), El Cerrito, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 10, 2006 Very foamy head that quickly disappates. Dark as sin with no light coming through. Dark roasty flavor. Smooth at first, then comes on wirth roast leaving a lingering aftertaste. Don’t really taste the hops the placard at the store mentioned. A little thinnish, albeit chewy, in body. Very nice. The name Maduro is also a cigar. I could easily see sipping this porter along with a big maduro lit up! Nuffield (2724), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 24, 2006 Like root vegetables out of the ground, dirt on beets; plus, Chinese vegetables and rice, and chocolate. Deep brown with yellow at the edges. Nice toasty finish with chocolate notes. Moderate palate, some carbonation but neither annoyingly thin or stout-like thick. Good porter. Bomber shared with Lumpy. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Feb 23, 2006 bottle. I was torn between this and an ipa in the fridge, I guess it’s porter time. I kind of thought I’d enjoy this one more anyway, and it’s off to a great start with a rich black hue, traces of ruby on the edges, and a wonderful rocky, tan head. It’s got a good porter aroma too, not as much roasted coffee as some, but more fresh barley, wood, caramel, and even a modest amount of sparkling hops. The coffee comes out much more in the flavor with really tasty mocha notes in the finish and something that seriously reminds me of drinking a glass of whole milk. I’m wondering where those spicy hops went to. . .oh wait, they pop up after the robust body of sweet coffee. wow, I’m most impressed with this porter, it’s impeccably balanced. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 18, 2006 Bottle. Nose-plywood, soil. SMells ljust like the Home Depot. Taste-mild roast, honey, bakers chocolate, straw, clay. Not bad for a porter. Does not have the usual lactic/sour note associated with porters, and that is a very good thing. hopdog (5609), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 17, 2006 22oz bottle acquired in trade with DarkElf (thanks!). Poured a very dark brown color with an averaged size tan head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, and also has a musty/earthiness to it. Tastes of coffee, light roasted malts, and caramel. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 12, 2006 Dark brown colour. Fairly rich, chocolatey aroma with light toffeeish accents. Chewy - a little toffeeish and fudgey. A malty, but not roasty, sweet but rounded ball-first porter. Just the way it should be.
