7 oz bottle, Pours oily black with a small brownish head that has the little tiny lasting outer glass bubbles. Smells like Chocolate, but the scent does not abuse your senses allowing for a beautiful drink. Incredibly easy to drink RIS, with only the softest alcohol coming out on the roof of my mouth during swallow. I’m wishing for some colder weather drinking this excellent example of a RIS.

Thanks to DaveCooks for the bottle: Nearly opaque oily black with dark brown edges and a thin ring of tan head. Sweet caramely malty aroma has a nice roasted complex dark fruity aroma with some toasty Vienna malt. Body starts with lots of thick, sweet sticky caramel maltiness and milk chocolate with some mild soy and nice bittering hops and roasted malt presence. A nice, very drinkable imperial stout.

Courtesy of Davecooks <P> Very rich concentrated arom that yields dark chocolate, cherries-both fresh and preserves, coffee and a very mild tinge of licorice. This aroma is truly amazing. Deep black, but no matter how vigorously I poured or later swirled I could never coax a head out of it. Burnt malts, esspresso, acidic and oily in the fore followed by a cheery and even somewhat marzipan tinged sweetness. Low carbonation, but extrememly concentrated flavor. More like the Courage I had in feel then most American stouts. A remarkable Imperial from a brewery that excels at making dark beers.

Poured opaque black with a thin brown head. Roasted malt aroma with notes of dark fruit, cola, chocolate and some alcohol. Flavor is chocolatey and roasty with a touch of pine on the dry warming finish. Nice creamy mouthfeel. I love it when a beer I never heard of turns out to be so good.

Bottled. Opaque very dark brown. Tarry licorice aroma. Sweet, but not syrupy. Plenty of chocolate but the tar dominates. Despite it’s size it’s very drinkable and the mouthfeel is beautifully soft. Tarry salmiac finish, a lot like Finnish tar candies.

7 oz. bottle poured an opaque, inky black with a minamal brown head. Aromas of bitter chocolate, dark fruit, and a hint of anise. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of bitter chocolate, some dark fruit, and a bit of licorice with a silky smooth, warming and lingering chocolate finish. One of the best beers I have ever drank from Coast Range!!!

Syrupy dark brown. Rich, Christmas fruitcake, burnt raisin and alcohol aroma. Old School!! Smooth, oily body with hints of fudge and alcohol. Absolutely wonderful silken dark malts. No big hops, no big roast, this is the way impies used to be. Brilliant!

An above average stout that really was tasty. Pour is a black body with no head. Nose is anise, coffee, roastiness and the flavor is the same. A bit too much alcohol in the taste, which is probably what keeps it from becoming great. Still, very enjoyable and tasty. Well worth buying.
