kevd193213 (312), Coventry, Rhode Island, USA Jun 14, 2008 Draught 7 oz sampler. Dark brown/black with a thick tan head. Aroma of burnt coffee and nuts. Taste of coffee and burnt malt with a dry aftertaste. I agree with the previous reviewer and I was disappointed at how thin this was. I regret saving it for last out of all of the samples tried. Cryotek (206), Pawtucket, Rhode Island, USA Jan 26, 2008 I was also very dissapointed with this stout. I was hoping to save the best for last, but i should have known it wasn’t a beer to cherish when i saw the low alc%. Has roasted malt and coffee bean scents and tastes along with nutty flavor. But overall it is thin, boaring, and not very tasty. Could use some inriching flavors and spice, along with maybe a little coco. Because there are so many great stouts, i would probably say this might be the lamest i’ve had. nimbleprop (581), Washington, Washington DC, USA Aug 19, 2007 This beer made me angry, a good idea gone bad. Deep black, but noticeably watery with a clumpy off white head. Aroma might be the best part with nuts, chocolate and roasted malts in the nose. Flavor is really weak and exactly the same. Dry but very light, 3.5 ABV does nothing for the flavor or finish. I was extremely disappointed. desurfer (1032), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA Jul 14, 2007 Almost opaque ruby with little head. Aroma is slightly roasty. Flavor mostly bitter coffee with some chocolate malts, plus a note of hoppiness. I feel like I’ve had a ton of dry stouts exactly like this one. Is that good or bad? It’s not poorly executed; it just blends in with the crowd. beerbill (1248), Laurel, New York, USA Jun 30, 2007 On tap at Coddingtons. Arrived at the table in a pint glass very dark brown with a thin off-white head, which I thought a bit light for a stout. Light coffee aroma. Flavor is again coffee with some light roasted malt. Dry, bitter coffee finish, almost like an old cup of coffee. A bit thin-bodied as well. I enjoy stouts, but this one just didn’t do much for me.
