Cask at the Steam Plant Spokane. Pours a deep copper color with a nice white head. Aroma is caramel, malt/ peated malt. Flavor was malty, caramel, peated malt, nutty, a touch of hops and slight sour notes. Easy to drink, but nothing special.

Tap @ Alehouse: Auburn pour with a modest beige head. Earthy aroma was malty, peat, and nutty. Tastes of peat, nuts, toffee, and roast. Rather earthy, but still retained that English sweetness. Again a nice ale from CDA.

Copper to brown in color. Aromas of toasted malt with a hint of hopsack. Earthy caramel flavors in the front. Middle picks up some traditional english hops. Finish has a bit of chocolate and earthiness. A strong amber.

Taster - Coeur D’Alene Brewing - Coeur D’Alene, ID
Aroma – Dark roasty malt aroma. Very little hops in the nose.
Appearance – Dark mahogany in color, thin head and clear.
Flavor – Nice easy to drink roasted malt flavor balanced with the hops for flavor.
Palate – Good Mouthfeel, nice texture with a dry finish.
Overall – Nice easy to drink Scottish ale .

Tap @ Brewpub: Mahogany ruby, light tan head and nice lacing. Toasty and roasty nose, chewy melanoidins with a balanced hop bite. Roasty like a porter even but with a chewy caramel and cocoa flavor. Pleasant and ample bitter balance.

Copper with no head. Aroma was boggy with a grassy peat nose. Some caramel flavour and some peat and grass and nuts and just basically a boggy all over the place beer.

Fourth stop during the ABA Beer Tour ’07 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Sampled on tap at the downtown brewpub. Pours a light caramel amber brew with a very creamy off-white head that slowly dissolves to a fine film. Aroma of light milk chocolate, roasted multi-grain, dried roasted nuts and a touch of coffee. Taste is smooth and semi-light, with flavors of caramel and toffee. Finish is slightly sweet with a caramel aftertaste. Nice touch with the milk chocloate character for a Scottish Ale.

Draft at CDA brewpub. Dark brown with small but lasting head. Not a lot of aroma, maybe some dry yeast and slight malt. Toasted nut and dryish, sour malt taste. Palate somewhat thin and watery, but refreshing. Not as much malt as I like, nor any smoke that I could detect.
