Commercial Description:
This beer is Cold Spring Pale Ale, a style known for its bitterness. The bitterness comes from the hops added during the boil as well as the fresh aromas. The hop variety used in this beer is a cascade hop. This well established variety of hops is an American grown hop. This hop is known for its citrus flavors and floral aroma characteristics. There are four hop additions that are added during the boil.

Quart can, soon to be utilized for beer butt turkey. Hazy amber color with a taller, somewhat creamy looking light ecru colored head. A decent looking pale. Grain and resin aromas along with a bit of grass. Light caramel flavors with a bit of grain in the background. Middle has some resin and light earth. SOme herbal and dried floral qualities. Finish is rather dull and a bit sharp. Linger is dry and a bit bitter and woody. A great effort considering the other brews from this brewery. Actually had no intention of finishing the whole can, but found no great faults that would have made me drain pour it.

12 oz. bottle from Hi-Time. Fair copper color with a white head that never really arrived. Aromas of slightly roasted caramel and floral/citrus hops. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is primarily lightly roasted caramel and floral hop. Finish is reasonably dry and there is floral bitter. Another APA that is more of an ESB than APA. However, it drinks really well, and I think it would be appreciated across the pond. If they didn’t know where it came from.

Bottle. A medium amber colored body. Orange smells at first with a doughy character and notes of hay. The taste was gummy with some light tobacco. There was also an earthy note of sunflower seeds. Drinkable, but certainly nothing to seek out.

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle at Heritage Liquors in Maplewood, MN. Pours a clear golden pale brew with a creamy white head that slowly dissipates to a fine film and white ring, with some spotty lacing. Aroma of light caramel malt, a touch of sweet apples, and light citrus hops. Taste is medium bodied, plenty of carbonation with flavors of light multi-grain malt, a touch of corn, some mild citrus hops and a hint of vegetables. Finish is semi-dry with a light mild bitterness that quickly disappears to a crisp finish. Normally I prefer a pale ale to have a little more hop kick but this would be used for a summer kicker. An okay beer, but that is about it.

Sampled on 12/4/2008. This Pale ale pours a medium amber brown color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white frothy head, with decent retention and nice lacing. The aroma is mild floral with a touch of hops, wait there is a touch of honey as well. A light to medium bodied Pale Ale. The malts are caramel and sweet. The hops are floral and earthy. Not all that bitter for a pale ale. Has a kind of honey flavor I could not place till I remembered that Cold Spring used to be Gluek. For a Gluek beer this is a freckin masterpiece. Anyone else, and its sort of average. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Copper color with a thin head. Decent piney aroma and a little grain. Mostly grain flavor. Some wet cardboard. Amazingly enough, not terrible!
