hayduke (1619), Eureka, California, USA Jan 13, 2006 On tap at the Widmer Gasthaus, Portland brewhouse. Red with a medium white head. Hops and malts. Very smooth. The bitterness was just about right and got better as the glass got toward the bottom. I enjoyed this one a lot. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Mar 20, 2005 On tap at the tap house. Pours amber/copper with a medium white head. Aroma has a nice balance of hops and dried malts. This brew starts with a toasty malt sweetness up front, slightly earthy throughout, with a balanced low profile hop finish. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Mar 18, 2005 Light red, good head. Light hop aroma. Striking bitterness, fades to a more hoppy taste with dark, earthy mineralized malts. Salty finish. Strange. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 10, 2005 Red mahogany with a creamy white head and a couple spots of lace. Warm toasted malts with some biscuit aromas. Subtle fruitiness plays about. Again, in the flavors, the toasted malts and biscuits dominate. There are some bitter and citrusy hops in there as well. Nice solid body with a malt packed finish and just a hint of bitter hops.
BückDich (4785), McCall, Idaho, USA Mar 9, 2005 Sampled draught at Widmer Gasthaus, Portland Tawny colored, small head, light lacing. Nose of crispy noble hops & nicely toasted grains, fresh bread & really any freshly cooked starch. The finish is very smooth no bite and very refreshing. Good PNWern Vienna.
