beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Oct 12, 2006 Nice dark amber in color, very clear, with a off white head. The smoking on this brew was excellent, not over the top, but not weak by any means. The bartender said this was a smoked porter, but didn’t seem like a porter to me. Great caramel sweetness up front that really just mixed very smoothly with the smokiness. This brew never felt out of synch, all the flavors just worked perfectly together, and I never got tired of this beer (as I do with some smoked beers) just a delight to drink the whole way through. The best collaborator brew so far in my opinion. BuckeyeBoy (1635), Boise, Idaho, USA Oct 7, 2006 On Tap At Widmer Brothers brewery/pub in Portland OR. pours out a almost black topped with a small off white head. A good smoke on this one. Almost like smoked salmon raphael (410), Portland, Oregon, USA Sep 22, 2006 On tap at Oaks Bottom. Aroma of chocolate, swet wood smoke, caramel with just a little burnt edge. birch beer-ish color, slightly darkened & thin head. kind of anonymous in the mouth. falvor on the sweet side, maple, something dark & dry. more like a smoked baltic porter than anglo-american, unique but not fully realized. 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA Sep 18, 2006 Collaborator Project in the form of a smoked porter on tap at Oaks Bottom. Definite smoked malt aroma. Super-clear beer, darkest of browns with a ruby hue when backlit. Fair off-white head with no lacing left behind. Nice smoked flavor plays well with the chocolate dominant malt flavors. A bit thin in body. Nicely done, just a bit lacking in body flavor.
