Commercial Description:
Collaborator Hallucinator Olde Ale was designed by homebrewers and Oregon Brew Crew members Gary Corbin and Michael Rasmussen. This English Olde Ale is a traditional, stron, malty ale of the British Isles, with just enough hops to balance the sweet malt flavors.

On tap at The Victory in SE Portland. Tastes a bit sweet and malty. Good amount of alcohol in there too. Just like a strong ale should be.

1/19/08 On draught at the Portland brewhouse. Aroma is sweet and all malty, but has a strong vegetal (fresh) character that doesn’t hurt, but is very weird. Appearance is clear copper with a low white. Flavor is earthy English brown in character with good sweetness and low bittering. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a medium carb texture. Overall, fairly good, but lacking some unique character.

On tap and pours flat. opening floral aroma giving way to caramel with notes of roast and toast. has a good heft in the mouth. overall effect of beer is murky. its clean but not clear (definite), lacking in complexity

07-08 Road Trip with BikesandBeer. Had at Horsebrass Pub in Portland. Porus amberish orange with a thin ring head. Nose has a slight hop character. Tastes ehh. Overall this was pretty damn poor, barely worth trying again.

On tap at Widmer Bros. in NE Portland, OR--Poured a deep copper body with a thick whtie head. Floral, tangy sweet earthy hops with a balance of caramel maltiness. Pretty unmemorable. Thin finish. Didn’t leave much of an impression other than hiding the 7+% ABV alcohol quite well.

On tap at the 2007 Holiday Ale Festival. Poured copper with a tall white head. Fruity hops over a warm toasted caramel malt base. Very smooth on the palate, not as earthy as some old ales i’ve had, but more sessionable and a bit of spiciness to the finish for the holidays. Another good collaborator brew.

Tried this beer at Holiday Ale Fest 2007 in Portland, Oregon. Hallucinator smells very sweet. Like honey. It is very dark, almost opaque amber color. The initial taste is very sweet, and there are hints of honey in the flavor. Also, there is some spice to the beer. Maybe like a cinnamon or clove flavor. Not my favorite brew style, but its good in my book. B-
