Commercial Description:
Designed by homebrewers Bill Schneller and Chris Johnson, Saison Christophe is brewed with malted barley, malted wheat, and unmalted oats. A fairly hefty dose of candi sugar boosts the alcohol, lightens the body and gives it an authentic dryness you won’t find in many American-produced Saisons. Orange peel and coriander lend an orange/lemon citrus note, blending with the underlying spice and pepper notes from the Dupont yeast.

From a draft pour at the Widmer Brewhaus in Portland, Oregon, this poured a lightly hazed gold with a small white head and light lacing. The nose is citrus and coriander, with some lingering aromas yeast. Smooth and dry mouthfeel. The flavor is dead on for the style with some fruit flavors. Finish is dry and with some spice. A very nice drinking beer and I feel lucky to have found this on tap.

A heck of a fruity and spicy beer. A good saison I quite liked it and it is dominated by coriander. A nice dry and tart thats refreshing as well.

2009 Oregon Brewers Festival – Portland, OR
Aroma: Great malt with some wheat and oats in the aroma. Add some orange also.
Appearance: Golden in color, Clear with a light head.
Flavor: Great malt flavor light to taste and a light fruity flavor to add.
Palate: Dry fruit like Finish, with a Good Mouthfeel.
Overall: A very nice brew. I was proud to be drinking one of my friend’s brews. Bill and Chris you did awesome. This was a high light for me to taste at the OBF.

Tap @ OBF... Poured golden, yellow/orange with a white head. Super spiced and yeasty aroma. Very refreshing palate with a big honey and citrus sweetness and a nice alcohol warmth while still remaining the spice qualities. This was one of the highlights of the Brewer Festival for me.
