Commercial Description:
Produced by Widmer Bros. in collaboration with the Oregon Brew Crew, a Portland homebrew club. This rich-tasting, strong winter warmer’s fairly high bitterness is well-masked by a fruity, full-bodied caramel malt flavor and a touch of bittersweet chocolate in the background. It’s a big beer that promises to warm the cockles of your heart.

Draught at Widmer: Deep amber, moreso ruby, moderate foamy light beige head, fairly nice lacing.   Sweet roasted malt nose, slight caramel malts.   Sweet malty amber up front, roasted malts show up halfway through and linger through the finish.   Clean, easy drinking.   Body and mouthfeel are a solid moderate.   Big hefty roasty amber... I like it!

On tap at the Widmer Gasthaus, Portland brewhouse. Very rich and dark with a small brown head. Lots of flavors with rich malts and a touch of hops. Smooth on the tongue. A great winter brew.

(Draught - GastHaus) Pours a deep brown color almost cola like in the glass, and a small tan head that disappears as quick as it came. PIne nuts and spruce tips, with some caramel and toffee, a nice biscuity matly beer with some fragrant hops and just a bit of spice and minerals. Good for a pint

(Draught, Widmer Gasthaus) Pours a deep amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma of malt, grass, roastiness, and a hint of fruit. Flavor of pine, caramel, and malt.

On tap at the Horse Brass Pub in Portland. Pours a very dark mahogany, almost black with a small tan head. Aroma is lightly roasty, slightly fruity, with a floral hop backing. This brew was a bit watery and thin on the palate, I was hoping for a bit more malty thickness to it. Slight caramel malt start with a big bland bitterness to finish it off.
