It pours a clear yellow body with a tall fizzy head that evaporates with haste. The aroma is soiled wheat with a touch of tin. The mouthfeel is oily and metallic. It tastes of some generic malt with a bit of wheat and has a tinny finish. Truly a Gluek of a hefeweizen.

Even though they’re both Minnesotan, I don’t think Gluek is as well know for canning quality beer as Surly. Poured a cloudy blonde with a decent sized head. There was a very faint sweet aroma. Tasted awfully metallic with some wheat and malt hints. I probably couldn’t identify this as a hefeweizen in a blind taste test though. Lacks complexity completely and barely drinkable. bhensonb (4347), Woodland, California, USA
| 1.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Aug 20, 2007 Aroma is honey? Orange tinged gold color. Thin to medium bodied. Sort of creamy carbonation (does not seem to be a nitro can). The flavor is kind of non-descript. Malt. Not very wheaty. It has a flavor, it’s not a particularly bad flavor, but it has little to recommend it. The finish is almost non-existent. The mouth is left with something like malt and wet paper. Not a great drink. Not a hefeweizen except that there may be some wheat in the brew. JPDIPSO (4926), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | Aug 14, 2007 hazy dirty straw color with a taller, dissipating off-white head. LIght lemon along with lightly sweet grainy wheat and corn aromas. Quite an odd aroma. Iron, blood, sweet peppers and well past their prime bananas. Not a bad feel, but the finish is so metallic that the liquid starts to have battery acid quality. Some sweet stomach acid and grains in the finish and linger. This is barely a mediocre american wheat let alone a German Hefeweizen. HighlanderOne (546), Somewherein, New Jersey, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Aug 11, 2007 Poured from can. Citrus/malt aroma. Pale gold with thin head. Citrus-y flavor with some nice malt notes, but thin feel and slightly metallic. Nice concept, but this one needs some work. BeerBelcher (943), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jul 12, 2007 This is just not very good beer. I had the Colonial Pub Pint brown ale, and thought it decent. However, this is a pretty weak wheat beer, with not a lot of wheat flavor but with some weird maltiness that is very uncharacteristic of the style and I find slightly unpleasant. The aroma is a bit apple-y and spicy, but I’m still not a fan. Mouthfeel is weak and watery. This doesn’t seem like a wheat beer; it seems more like a sort of crappy maibock. Not recommended. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA

| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | May 5, 2007 Picked up a 16-oz can from Party Center in Maplewood, MN. Pours a clear, pale golden yellow brew with a fast dissolving white head. Lots of carbonation bubbles. Aroma of P&G Ivory soap, some corn malt and sour bananas. Taste is highly carbonated, metalic on the roof of mouth, and a light citrus aftertaste. It bit rough doing down. Definitely not a Hefeweizen. It’s too clean in appearance to be even close. Next!
